Chapter 94

Cassandra stepped down from the car, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and we drove off, giggling like teenagers. "Who was that guy?" I asked curiously.

"Brian," she replied dismissively. "My insensitive ex-boyfriend."

"He seemed pretty bitter about losing you, though," I remarked.

"He doesn't have a chance," she said confidently. "I've found a much better man, and he'll never find anyone better than me."

"Very true," I said, grinning from ear to ear.

Upon arriving home, Cassandra immediately set to work cleaning the spare room in preparation for any unexpected visitors. She had plans to meet with Jane to discuss their ideas for designing the bridesmaids' dresses, which brought her great joy. Meanwhile, I changed into my night clothes, feeling wryly amused by her excitement as I still had yet to decide on a best man for the wedding.
