CHAPTER EIGHTY NINE

Scarlett's POV

As the adrenaline began to subside, the remnants of my wolfish form receded, leaving me standing there, trembling and disoriented. The echoes of the battle still reverberated in my ears, but amidst the fallen bodies, a glimmer of hope emerged. I noticed a slight movement from Freda, a flicker of life in her hands. Relief washed over me like a wave crashing against the shore.

"F-Freda?" I stammered, my voice filled with a mix of worry and hope. I hurriedly made my way to her side, my movements still slightly unsteady as I knelt down beside her. "Freda, can you hear me?" I gently grasped her hand, feeling the warmth in her touch, a sign that she was alive.

Her eyes fluttered open, and a weak smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Scarlett," she whispered hoarsely. "You... you saved me."

Tears welled up in my eyes as relief flooded through me. "I couldn't let anything happen to you, Freda. You mean so much to me." I squeezed her hand gently, never wanting to let go. "We
