Chapter 15

Arielle’s POV:

I felt slight taps on my body, soft and gentle. I opened my eyes to see Lorraine staring at me, and I yawned a little, opening my mouth to ask, “What’s going on?”

My voice was still riddled with sleep, however, and it left my voice drawling and slurred, not unlike someone who was drunk.

“Wake up, we need to go right now, doctor,” she sounded urgent and firm, but not unkind.

With those words from her lips, the sleep completely left my eyes as I suddenly remembered where we are and what we are here for. I got up slowly, but not without muttering, “It’s Arielle”, as I stood to stretch up and wake up even more.

I followed her in leaving the small makeshift room that was the tent. The sight of the sun just rising as I stepped out of the tent left me to gaze in wonder at the environment, and take in several deep breaths, like I had been learning to do, to greet the day with. The sun hadn’t come out in its full glamour and the world was tinted with light blue hues. Around me,
