Ray was still speaking with me about the progress of the Pack repairs, but I couldn’t concentrate. Bloom.

I knew she was standing outside, listening to our conversation, and I could feel the anger and sadness bubbling inside her. Focusing my attention back on the request for an alliance that came from Montrose Pack, I started to rethink my choice. The Alpha of Monstrose Pack made life a living hell for his daughter, and that was the worst choice he ever made.

When I sensed that Bloom had gone back to the room, I raised a hand to stop Ray. “Let’s continue this discussion another time.” My Beta nodded with apparent understanding and excused himself.

After he left, I stood up to go check on Bloom. When I got to the door, I stopped at the threshold and peeked in hesitantly. She was lying on the bed, a duvet covering her completely like she was cold, and that broke my heart. I closed the door gently behind me after walking in and stood by the door.

“Bloom…”
