Chapter Twenty-eight

I sat in the room with Nia, waiting for the chaos outside to die down. We could hear the shouts and the sounds of fighting outside, and every sound made me more and more scared. Nia and I were both trembling with fear, unsure of what was going to happen to us. We sat in silence for what felt like hours, just waiting for something to happen.

Finally, the sounds of fighting started to die down, and we heard footsteps approaching our door. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I felt like I was going to be sick. The door opened, and my worst fears were realized - rogues were standing there, ready to take us away. But to my surprise, four guards were standing with them.

The guards immediately helped us up, and I could feel the relief flooding through me. We were safe, for now. They led us out of the room and down the passageway towards the infirmary, where the healer was already waiting.

I was still shaking with fear as we entered the infirmary, but the healer greeted us with a warm smil
