Scarlett's pov

“She’s still alive!” A voice yelled snapping me out of my reverie.

“Let’s leave her there, she could be an enemy!” Another, more cautious one replied.

“I do not think she works for anyone! Can’t you smell her? She smells like a rogue!” The first one snapped almost indignantly at the second but that didn’t stop the second from voicing out his fears.

“You don’t know the extent these people take to disguise themselves,” He grumbled. “I won’t be shocked if her people intentionally made her rogue just to make her seem alone.”

“Okay fine let’s just save her first. When she becomes stable, we’ll take her to our Alpha. If she’s a spy, he would find out himself.” The first one answered.

“Yeah, he’d torture answers out of her like he did to his mate until she died,” the second replied with a laugh. I knew the person they talked about was me; but I felt too weak to voice out my opinion.

I simply let them pull me up from the cold wet grass I had laid in like for forever and dump me in an old rusty carriage.

I didn’t even try to move as they rode the carriage down the wet path; but as soon as I saw the name of their pack on their uniforms, I sat up with a force I never thought I still had in me; it was the blood moon pack. The most feared one around the country and even in some places abroad.

“Ahh the beauty is awake!” The second one who happened to be a huge young lad said with a leer on his face. I instinctively moved away from him only to feel my back press against something- or someone else.

“Don’t move too much.” The first who happened to be a much more older lad said to me in concern; “there’s a wide gash on your head which looks infected, do not move too much so that you don’t upset it.” His reply made me warm up to him, and I found myself leaning closer to him as we continued our way down the wet rocky path. I rested my head briefly on his broad shoulders and closed my eyes slowly as I felt a peaceful sleep slowly envelope me.

Maybe a few nice members of the blood moon pack still existed…

“We found her along our territory borders, I’d say you commence treatment on her right away!” I heard the unmistakable voice of the nice guy earlier say to someone else. I felt my back suddenly hit something soft moments later; and I snuggled into the comforting warmth it brought.

“But I’ve been strictly barred from treating rogues unless given special permission to do so by our Alpha,”  An unfamiliar voice replied. “I could lose my job and you know it.”

“Believe me you wouldn’t. I’m very sure our Alpha wouldn’t want this one dead, and this is the only way to stop her from dying,” a pause, “can’t you see that deep gash on her head? See its color, it’s infected and if you don’t do anything real quick about it, she’ll die!” The familiar voice almost yelled.

“I still do not want to do it!” The other voice snapped stubbornly.

“I say you do in order not to face the Alpha’s wrath when she dies and he seeks informations about her!”

“Okay okay, but run along, go get Alpha’s directive as I try to stabilize her.” The other voice replied quickly. “I am not going to fully start treatment until I’m sure Alpha wants her alive.” “Fine then.” I heard the familiar voice say quickly; a few seconds later, I heard his retreating footsteps accompanied by a loud bang of a metallic door closing.

A few seconds of silent ruffling passed until I felt the sharp sting of something pierce my arm; I cried out softly then slipped into a peaceful unconsciousness…

I woke up feeling revitalized. I opened my eyes to find myself in an hospital room with an IV set passed into a vein on my arm. On the table that stood beside the bed was good food and water. The person who kept the food was even considerate enough to add dessert alongside the food.

I sat up quickly, munched on the sweet tasting Nashville hot chicken; accompanied by a slice of pecan pie and gulped down the sparkling water like a wounded lion. As soon as I finished the first food I’d had in days, the door opened revealing a tall dark brooding figure. He looked extremely attractive with his grayish eyes and demigod kind of body.

He was cloaked in Royal regalia, signifying that he was royalty. Instinctively, I bowed my head but was immediately dismissed by a flick of his wrist.

“Who are you?” He asked almost immediately, staring intently at me in a way that seemed like he could see into my soul.

“I am Scarlett. Scarlett Paige.” I mumbled.

“I mean your real name!” He drawled with his arms folded across his chest.

“B-but t-that’s my r-real name s-sir.” I stuttered fearfully.

“You do not want me to torture the truth out of you, you know.” He said simply. I gulped. I’ve always heard of the brutality of the blood moon pack, and I wasn’t in the least interested in experiencing it first hand.

“Alpha Xavier, she isn’t in a very sound state of mind. She isn’t well enough to be investigated!” A middle aged man clad in a lab coat shouted from the doorway; but instead of taking heed to the doctor’s instructions, he sat down on the bed and shouted to someone by the door;

“Get me some scissors!” He yelled. My heart began to beat wildly against my chest as I thought of what he was about to do to me..

Just how much more torture do I have to bear in the hands of young unfeeling Alphas…?
