Audrey’s POV:I helped Ian to walk as we both took a stroll in the orchard, for he was still recovering but slowly so from the poison that he had taken. He was strong but the poison had taken a huge toll on him and that made his recovery slow paced. We talked as we both took precise steps according to his rhythm and rested any time he ran out of breath and seemed too tired to carry on. I was patient with him because I knew the condition he was in and because he was my friend. After all the hurdles we both had been through, I was surprised that we were able to establish a good friendship and somehow, I was grateful to have him as a friend, it felt really good.As we continued to walk now in silence for some minutes, I drifted off in my thoughts and Ian noticed that and became quite curious of what ran through my mind. He almost seemed like he could openly see my train of thoughts like it reflected on my face and so he became concerned as the friend he now was. Pausing for a moment,
Audrey’s POV:When Kaden got to where Ian and I stood holding hands, the first thing he did was to rip my hand out of Ian’s hold. This pissed me off instantly and fora moment, I simply stood there, panting staring back angrily at Kaden who said nothing also but stood breathing heavily. I finally let out my anger and lashed out at him.“Hey, what the hell is your problem, Kaden? Why did you do that and why the hell are you even acting this way!?” I scolded Kaden with my voice high pitched, almost screaming at him.“What do you mean by what am I doing?” Kaden shot back at me.“I don’t know what you’re trying to do but you just are interrupted a peaceful moment I was having here with my friend.” I said angrily to him.“Nonsense!” He shot back at me again, this time without looking at me but at Ian who stood helplessly saying nothing to Kaden.I tried to get closer to Ian and held him again but Kaden would have none of it. He quickly came between us and tried to forcefully tear us apart
Audrey's POVMy heart throbbed painfully when the memories of how I injured Alpha Kaden ran uncontrollably through my mind like some stereotape. I knew I was the only one to be blamed for my actions. I shouldn't have pushed him, but it was harder to push him off with my words, action they say speaks louder than words, but in this scenario my actions have brought me a bag of troubles that I don't know practically any solutions to solve them.I should have just walked out on him, that would have been better. This is harder than I thought, remembering the last time I had seen Kaden's body looking lifeless and sprawled on the floor like his existence had been sucked out of him.I knew that my push wasn’t enough to kill him, rather he had only fainted out of exhaustion and the strength I’d used."I would want to see you get back on your feet Kaden, I didn't mean to push you, it was never my intention to hurt you. I hope you will definitely understand when you wake up, please be strong." I
Audrey’s POVI could hear very audibly the rumbling sounds of my stomach echoing as if the sounds were produced from outside of my body. It rumbled noisily and constantly as I sat down on the cold hard floor of the dungeon which was pitch black with darkness. It had been days since I had my last meal and so I grew weaker every minute of my time locked up in that terrible place. My throat burned with thirst also, it felt like it was stuck together, my mouth dry as well. The chains I was bound with grew heavier than ever too as I continued to lose strength because of lack of food and water. Tears leaked from the sides of my eyes also without me necessarily wanting to cry.I laid there bound with chains on my wrists and on my ankles. Every minute that passed, I felt like it was going to be my last till the next. And as I sat there hardly even able to entertain a single thought, I was getting to the brink of giving up on the hope of surviving that terrible place. I tried to lie down bu
Chapter 86I laid down asleep in my dark cell almost lifeless, tortured in pain. Tired, sore and famished, I was abruptly awoken by the familiar stroke of whip on my back by someone inside my cell room. The force of the strike jerked me forward and I let out a muffled cry absent of tears. I had cried out all my tears already and still in great pains, all I could mutter was a weak groan, but before I could completely react to the pain of the strike, I heard multiple footsteps come into the cell and before I could think, I was roughly lifted up from the ground by two hefty men. They roughly dragged me outside the cell not minding for a second the bloody sores I had all over my body. They pulled me through the dungeon and confused I was, I struggled to speak as I wanted to know what was going on and where they were taking me to. “What is happening? Where are you taking me to?” I cried out softly, my voice breaking and trailing both as a result of weakness and pains. The men just ignor
Kaden’s POV:All my senses began to come alive as I slowly gained consciousness. My eyes fluttered open one eyelid at a time and they met the harsh bright light that hung above me and I squinted in pain. It was obvious I had been unconscious for some time and waking up, I felt the weakness in my body was as a result of lying down on this cold stiff bed for days and probably from all the drugs I had been administered while unconscious. Squeezing my face, I lifted my weak hands slowly to cover my eyes, still shut to protect them from the blinding lights that shone across the room. My entire body ached and I felt too numb to properly feel a thing or even move. The rest of my senses, not as sharp as before were gradually coming back. I tried sniffing around me to detect my environment and understand my situation. My mind slowly came back to full consciousness, I sniffed to detect the presence of Audrey by my side but when I could not smell her anywhere close, I started to feel annoyed t
Jacob’s POV:“Are you even listening to me Jacob? You have been sitting there numb to all that I have been saying to you without saying a single word or even as much as give me a glance, what is the matter with you?!” Elora screamed at me from my behind.I had sat down right in front of her as she kept ranting on and on about how inattentive I had become over the weeks and how ‘uncaring’ I now was; I really didn’t care though but there was no way I would say that to her.In truth she had been going on endlessly about a lot of things which at that moment, I cared less about, so I just sat lost in my own thoughts for I was tired of all her unending and incessant nagging which was all she had been doing for a while. It pissed me off all the time when she did that and it was no different then so instead of reacting angrily at her, I just ignored her as I entertained my own thoughts in mind.“Jacob?” Elora called out to me, shoving me gently on my shoulder as she breaks me from my stream
Audrey’s POV:Back at the dungeon, I sat down frustrated, trying relentlessly to free myself from the shackles that bound my hands and legs. I had grown really frustrated with everything that had happened; from the events with the council elders at the court and even Erik’s disturbing glances at me. I had barely spoken much since the elders decided that I was guilty without granting me a proper trial to hear my own plea. I was certain that there was nothing I could do to prove my innocence as they all were bent on ending me so I did not bother to put up any fight at all, I just remained calm as they dragged me back to the dungeon.Seated there, since there was nothing I could do, I simply began to entertain the idea of an escape somehow. I started to work tirelessly to unlock the chains around my wrist first. I twisted and squeezed with the hope that my powers would return to me and shatter the metals. As that seemed not to work at all, I bit with my teeth but that also was not mu
