GRIFFIN POV

I have been travelling the earth for years, moving between packs, clans and human cities. In my early teenage years, I learnt that I was different from everyone else, as I could see, hear and do things that no normal person should be able to do.

I worked out that no one liked people that were different so I tried to keep hidden what I could do, some of my close friends noticed the difference in me as I got older but they didn't care, some of them even ended up giving their lives to protect my secret. I didn't like this; it didn't seem right that anyone would give their life for mine.

When I reached one hundred years old I was working in a small werewolf pack when a stranger asked the Alpha if he could enter, as he was looking for someone and there was a possibility that this person was hiding in his pack. I didn't know at the time that he was actually looking for me. While he was there I went about my normal routine and helped whoever in the pack required assistance.

On the third day that this stranger was there, I accidentally bumped into him as he passed, heading to the packhouse. I couldn't stop one of my gifts from coming to the surface. I froze as I saw what he had done and what he was about to do. Unfortunately for me, it was him bumping into me that set the destruction he would cause into motion. He stops and turns back around and says.

"I have been looking for you since you came into some of your powers..."

I shake myself, and turn to face him "I'm sorry, sir! I think you have me confused with someone else.."

I go to turn and walk away as he says "Nice try! Bastard Son of Lucifer... You would have thought a fallen angel like Lucifer would have at least found another female fallen angel to have a kid with..."

I stop and look at him puzzled "I don't know what you are talking about, my parents were Jack and Olivia Parker. I am Griffin Parker. I am sorry but I have work to do, so I must be on my way.."

He laughs "So it is true you really don't know who or what you are... Would you like to know before I kill you?"

Now I knew a little of what I could be because when I turned fifty, I had this extreme pain run through my back. I fell to the ground as it felt like I was being split in half and my spine was being ripped out, by the time the pain had subsided and I could move again I had this weight on my back that I couldn't shift.

I slowly and carefully got back to my feet, I reach over my shoulder and feel something soft and very sensitive. I then look over my shoulder as much as I can and see black feathers, I concentrate on my back and the feathers seem to move and then wrap around me.

I run my hand over them and realise that they are in fact wings, it then took me a few months in hiding to work out how to use them, to learn how to fly and then more importantly how to hide them so that I would look just like everyone else.

I was now sure that I was missing part of myself, when I first went to some of the werewolf packs and vampire clans I noticed that they would seem to get this far-away look in their eyes.

After I had managed to make a few friends, I asked them what it meant when they did that and they said that they were either talking to another member of the pack or they were talking to their vampire or werewolf respectfully. I wondered if there was a possibility that I too had another half.

"Are you sure that you have the right person??"

"I couldn't be more sure..."

He then allows his long jacket to fall to the ground, and he extends beautiful white wings, he looks at me and says something in a language I have never heard before.

I don't understand what he says but I feel this massive wave of power flow through me and for the first time I actually feel whole. It is then that I hear a voice in my head.

"It is finally nice to be able to talk to you, Griffin..."

"Who are you?"

"Oh! Right sorry, I am Memphis and I am your Angel half..."

'Why are you only just talking to me now?"

"Your father must have put some sort of block on me when you were born so that you would slowly receive my powers and then meet me when you were ready and able to understand the responsibility that comes with what we are and the power we hold. That male in front of us spoke in the language of the Angels, released me and ordered me to come forward... "

"What did he say?"

"He said 'I call to the forefront the angel that resides within. I release you from your bonds and order you to show yourself now!!!' I had no choice but to do what he commanded as we haven't had the chance to bond naturally yet making it so no one can order either of us. I will explain more later but for now, we need to get as far away from this male as we can..."

"But what about everyone in the pack?"

"We can't save them, as you saw. Nothing will change the destruction and death in this pack by us staying and fighting other than us dying along with them..."

Memphis then doesn't give me a choice as he extends our wings and takes to the air. I look back as I hear a loud explosion and the male yell

"YOU CAN RUN GRIFFIN BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO HIDE... WHERE EVER YOU GO WE WILL FIND YOU!!!"

I feel really guilty about what happened to that pack but I don't have a chance to dwell on it as we move on to the next place. Memphis covers our magick signature as we fly and then takes us to the other side of the country, he lands just outside one of the human cities and he gives me back control. I pull my wings in making them disappear, I then lean against the nearest building and turn back inwards,

"So Memphis, did you want to explain why we just let a werewolf pack of 700 die?"

"Like I said they would have died, either way, we just would have joined them... That male was a low-level messenger/warrior angel and until you can get to know me and we can learn to balance with each other even with how powerful we are, there was no way at all we would have been able to beat him."

"So what do we do now?"

"We will need to stay within the human city for a few weeks so they can cover our tracks and then we can do what you have been doing for years, we can travel around going from pack to clan to city. It will be the best way to stay under their radar and learn the fighting and control we will need to survive!"

I then move into the city and do what he says. I spend nearly two weeks in the human city, I then move on and continue my wandering through the different packs and clans across the country.
