Chapter 13

As Veronica fell to the ground, her vision became blurry, and before she knew what was going on, complete darkness had enveloped her. The last thing she remembered was the sharp pain shooting through her leg after she stumbled and fell, before everything faded to black.

It was very early in the morning when she finally began to regain consciousness, and everywhere around was still a bit dark. A pounding ache pulsed through her head. The air in the cave was musty and thick with the scent of old particles and decay. Slowly, she began to open her eyes, to find herself in a dimly lit cave. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, and became wide open, she began to look around, wondering where she was and how she got there.

“Where am I?” She asked herself.

As she looked around, she noticed that the walls of the cave were rough and uneven, it was a very old cave. Also, the silence in there was so deafening, it was broken only by the sound of her own ragged breathing.
