Chapter Ninety Six

The first time that Tristan felt that he had made a mistake by sending the car back was when he saw that Eleanor’s house was covered in darkness. There were not even guards outside to get a message from him inside, and he had no phone to call Eleanor.

He started walking towards a nearby phone booth to call her from there, when a black vigo stopped just before him. The window rolled down to reveal the face of a man in sunglasses and a black hat on top, “Hey, are you okay?”

Tristan obviously looked peculiar walking to the phone booth in an expensive looking dress, everything on him telling on his richness.

Under different conditions, Tristan would have wondered why that man was wearing sunglasses long after the sun had gone down, and a hat on his head, but right now, his mind was fogged up by a lot of thoughts.

He leaned near the window and said, “Yeah, can I borrow your phone? I forgot mine at home and I need to call -” His sentence was cut midway as he felt a very strong smell ent
