Jade was sitting next to Caelan, feeling stiff all over. She had been about to find an opportunity to slip away when she heard Kennedy. She could only nod and say, "A bit."

"Do you know how to cook fish?" Kennedy asked.

Jade's culinary skills were limited, but fish was her specialty, so she replied, "Yes."

"Then can you show us what you can do?" Kennedy was full of anticipation as he said with a smile, "Have dinner here. You can leave after you eat."

Jade had conflicting emotions for Caelan. She both wanted to know him and feared getting closer to him. Upon hearing what Kennedy said, she suddenly remembered that Caelan loved eating fish. She would be happy to cook for him.

Feeling gratitude, Jade agreed. "Sure. If it doesn't turn out well, please bear with me."

Kennedy waved his hand. "Don't be nervous, we're a family. Just go ahead."
