55. Mark

Zach couldn’t take his eyes off Nevea’s neck. The wound was completely healed, leaving a trail of marks that almost looked like a tattoo. But, unlike the first time he saw it, now it seemed like Nevea’s neck was hugged by a thorn tattoo.

“She said I successfully marked her but only bit her.” Zach trailed her mark, silently wishing he could get a clue from it.

All the things that happened for the past few days were too confusing. He had never entertained the idea of another kin existing somewhere, but now it seemed like he and Nevea were pulled into a crazy situation that both of them had no knowledge of.

“Your majesty,” Silas called from the outside, waiting for Zach’s permission to enter.

“Come in.”

Silas entered the room and saw Zach watching Nevea from her side, looking lost. It reminded him of the past when Zach used to look like that while asking his mother to bring Nevea back. Fate sure was funny; now he could witness the same thing.
