Chapter Fifty-Five.

Sorah’s POV.

“Do you want to get married too, Sorah?”

W-what is he suddenly saying to me? I flush bashfully and look away while fretting anxiously. I so wasn’t expecting he’d drop such a line that’s unlike his crude nature.

To get married...I abolished the concept when I got into that miserable bind with Devon and refrained from getting swayed ever since.

Timidly peeking at him, I think I can make an exception now. So I try with a playful tone, “What, will you be that willing to walk down the aisle with me?”

He stands up abruptly, startling me with his haste. Without sparing me a glance, he speaks stiffly, “Your break should be over now, you’ve stayed out from the reception party long enough.”

Well, I’m not surprised at his aloof response. Only that this time, instead of excusing it for consideration of his tangled and ambiguous feelings, I feel a prickle of sadness piercing through the back of my heart.
