Chapter 81

My throat feels very dry. Maybe because of the discomfort I felt, or maybe because of the buzzing sound in my ears that made me have to open my heavy eyes.

At first my eyes looked cloudy. I have to close it before I try to open my eyes again. One by one the faces of people I recognized looked back at me.

Expressions of surprise, worry, anxiety, anger, shock adorned the faces surrounding my bed. I tried to speak but my throat was so dry I had to clear my throat several times before I could utter a word that sounded so hoarse.

"Apha," I said, looking at Mum, Dad, Jenna, Evelyn, Jake, and finally Alex. He stood farthest from my bed.

I'm currently in my room. The room I've lived in for the past thirteen years. For a moment I don't recognize this place because I've been living in the Pack's house for the last few months.

"Cara-"

"Baby, you have to-"

"How's it going-"

Everyone spoke together as soon as I said something. I closed my eyes again to block out the pain and confusion in my head.
