Chapter Seventy-eight (Dane's POV) Present Time

All the guardians stood up and the noise of the sturdy chairs dragging on the marble flooring sounded in the room. Anastasios Martas acknowledged them with a nod.

I saw he had helped himself with one of my new clothes and had evidently taken a bath. When I cocked an eyebrow at him he shrugged and said, “Sorry.”

“How is she?” Saraya said, leaving the table to take a few steps toward the guardian. She wrung her hands and rocked on her feet when she came to a stop about four inches away from him as if there was a bubbling energy within her small frame.

“She is better… at least,” he replied directing his gaze to her before reverting the purple gleam my way. I shook my head, letting him know he should give as little information as possible. He gave me a subtle nod. “I need to feed her,” he said still holding my gaze. “And she wants to see you,” he said to Saraya. She gave him a jerky nod and glance back at me. Her anxiety was palpable.
