Emma was shuffling through her clothes in her room when she heard the bolt unlock in the living room. She eyed the clock on the wall in puzzlement, as she knew Tom would not be arriving so soon. The first thought that entered her mind then was that if her uncle had managed to break into her house, having found out that she was seeking shelter there. But upon second thought, she realized that was highly unlikely, and her racing heart calmed down.
