“Emma is the rogue we’re supposed to kill?” Tom shrieked in horror.
Jamie clutched his head, nodding begrudgingly. He felt just as clueless as he did a few hours ago.
“Where is she now?”
“Sleeping upstairs.”
“You mean she’s still alive? Why didn’t you kill her yet?”
Jamie narrowed his eyes in distress, “What?”
“Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? She’s our enemy.”

Emma watched her reflection in the mirror with contentment. She was wearing a knee length white dress with hand-embroidery adorned with pearls on the hems. Lacking any sleeves, the bodice was suspended on her body with thin straps on her shoulder, allowing her skin to glisten under the evening sunlight. She decided to let her hair loose, the way Jamie preferred it, and only curled the very ends of it. Although she wore minimal make up, with a tint of blush on her rosy cheeks and pink lipgloss to adorn her plump lips, she looked beautiful. Wrapped in the cocoon of his embrace, Emma lost track of time and space. She always felt the most peaceful when she was with him and it was the only time she completely let herself relax. As the two of them found their way back to each other after their rigorous session, she forgot when the darkness in front of her eyes seeped into her mind and dozed her off. When she next awoke, she found herself drenched in sweat, her body buried under the heap of a thick blanket. Only after pushing it off of her completely was she able to breath easily again. It was perhaps why she felt the need to wake up so abruptly, for her eyes still felt heavy with unfinished sleep. Turning to her side, she stretched her arm to wrap around Jamie, but instead, she only met with the empty mattress. Frowning, she sat up straight and squinted in the darkness, trying to adjust her eyes to detect his figure.
