The Wrong Mate
The Wrong Mate
Author: RALF

1-Teasing Fate.

Nic’s POV

“Don’t stop, I’m almost there,” she’s working me with her hand, while I’m fingering her.

“I’m so close, baby,” I pant, “Faster. Harder.”

We climax together this morning.

“I love you, Nic,” she pants as I kiss her.

“I love you, baby girl, so much it hurts,” we kiss, until we hear the alarm. We have school.

“I’ll meet you during 4th, like I always do.” I kiss her again, this time more passionately, before sneaking back to my room.

I so badly want to screw her brains out, but she is not 18 and while I feel the mate bond, she does not. She wants to wait until she feels the mate bond to be sure. Saving her virginity for her mate is important to her. So that makes it important to me.

I know she’s mine, but I won’t force her, I won’t push further. Claire is too precious, too important to me. I will simply wait. I’ll wait a million years, if that is what it takes.

My parents adopted her after her Alpha father challenged my Alpha father and lost. Her mother abandoned her at only 18months old, for a second chance mate. After 4 sons, my mom was done with pups, so when Claire needed a home, my mother called her their miracle daughter. She has been raised to be a Princess Warrior and Badass Luna. She is going to make the perfect Luna to my Alpha. Powerful, sweet, caring, very, very loving to her Alpha.

The laws of Mountain Peak state: the first male in the Alpha line to mate and be marked becomes Alpha. My oldest brother is almost 20 and refuses to even look for a mate. Choosing, instead, a life of debauchery among humans. So, that leaves me. I’m 18 and I know who my mate is, it’s Claire. I have to wait until she is 18, but I can do that, as long as our relief sessions hold out. It’s my last year of high school, she still has one more.

I have to leave in August to the human realm for training at Golden Moon. I’ll get back exactly one week before Claire turns 18 in April. We live in the supernatural realm, in a medium sized werewolf pack, on top of the largest Mountain in this realm. Technically, we only have claimed one face, but we defend the whole mountain. There are about 5000 werewolves here. We have our own schools, malls, and pretty much everything we need. We also maintain good relationships with our neighboring packs. And Liam formed a close relationship with our region's largest pack, Silver Creek during his training. So, while we train to fight rouges, we have peaceful lives. Which gives me plenty of time for Claire.

My parents don’t believe we are mates and want me to take the next year while Alpha Training and look for a mate. I agreed to a few trips this summer, but only if Claire joins me. I can’t be away from her, I simply can’t. She is my mate, I feel all the things I’m supposed to, I’m stronger around her, her scent pulls me in, I can’t get enough of her.

Being an Alpha, she feels the pull too. I sneak into her room every night, sleep snuggled next to her. We sleep better when we share a bed. I can’t wait until we fall asleep together after hours of lovemaking, only to wake up and start again.

We dress separately and see each other in the kitchen. I’m pretty sure our parents know, but they don’t say anything.

Going downstairs, I hear Cullen and Luke, my younger twin brothers, doing their morning stand up and the sweetest laugh ever created. She looks amazing, her tiny body sitting on a barstool, her thick, long, golden hair shines almost like the sun. She is dressed, to impress only me, in a knee length jean skirt and high collar purple top. Her curves are present, but she isn’t showing off. I love my girl.

“What is the difference between a teacher's aide and a complete idiot?” Cullen asked. He is twirling his knives. He loves his knives.

“Hum, what?” Claire asks.

“I don’t know, I was hoping you did.”

“Is that the best ya got this morning?” I ask, grabbing a mug and coffee.

“You look nice,” Clarie says, scanning what I’m wearing. I chose a pair of dark jeans and black tee shirt. “Jeans a little tight.”

“Well, they fit fine until I saw your bare legs,” I whisper to her, making her blush.

“Ewww, if you guys aren't mates, which we won't know for another year, y’all are gross.” Luke said.

“Jealousy is a bad color on you,” Claire said laughing, eating her cereal. Can I be a spoon for just one day? My luck, I’d be grabbed by Cullen or Luke.

“I just want a girlfriend. I mean, just not a shank.” Luke whined, stabbing his cereal and splashing milk.

“This is a no shank family,” Mom announces, as she comes into the kitchen. “Cullen, knives away.”

Cullen rolls his eyes and puts his knives away.

“Mom, prom? Can I take Claire?” I ask, for the millionth time. It’s in one week and I want to take Claire. My parents think it’s weird, since we have been raised as siblings, but anyone can see Claire is adopted. We are all tall, tan, black hair, green eyes. She is short, like, really short, golden hair and the most beautiful sapphire eyes. Damn, she is hot!

Mom looked exhausted by the question, “I know you both feel the mate bond, but I would hate, I mean hate, for your two to be wrong. So, here is the compromise your dad and I thought of. Prom is a yes, but no to Claire joining this summer. All the trips are 4 days, so that is not going to kill y’all.”

Claire and I look at each other. She nods in agreement. “I mean, I’m head over heels in love with you, but I don’t want either of us to miss our mates.” Claire’s smile can make me agree to anything.

“Thank goddess, one of y’all has a brain above the waist,” Mom said, breathing again. She kisses Claire’s head.

“What the hell is that?” Cullen asked, as a 6’ 8” broad shouldered, lean muscular, swamp monster wearing gray sweats and a white tee struggles to the coffee pot. His black, curly hair is long and tangled. From the looks of it, he lost his razor a year ago.

“Liam, you’re home,” Claire squealed, jumped down and threw her arms around him.

“Hey, pumpkin,” my older brother said, pulling her to the front of him and kissing her head. He has called her pumpkin since she was first introduced to us. Her mother had her in an orange dress with a green bow. So, pumpkin.

“Man, it’s good to see you, been a while.” I said, giving him a hug of my own.

“Since pumpkin’s last birthday,” he said.

“You’re staying a whole month this time?” Claire was, clearly, excited. Her 17th and our one year is in about a month.

“Anything for my pumpkin,” he said, half asleep, still holding Claire. If he wasn’t my brother, I’d been a little jealous. But, of the four of us, Liam is most like a brother to her.

“Okay, pumpkin, we need to get to school,” I say, pulling her to me slightly. “Let’s go, losers.”

“I’m glad you’re home, Liam.” Claire yells, as we leave.

Mom’s POV

My miracle daughter and my second son. I get it, they aren’t related. It’s clear that she is adopted, but still.

“Can you take your brother out this weekend?” I ask Liam, after I hear Nic’s car pull away.

He looks at me through his mess of hair, “to where?”

“A club? Or somewhere that Claire is too young to be.” I know, I’m begging, but I’m worried.

“Why are you so against them?” He asks, drinking coffee.

“I don’t want him missing his mate because he has tunnel vision.”

“From what I understand about the mate bond, he isn’t going to have a choice. I mean, won’t he have a physical pull to his mate? Won’t his wolf take over and demand he take her?”

“Yes, but still if he isn’t paying attention, he will miss the scent. Or if his human half is so drawn to another, his wolf may not be able to pull him away.”

“And you think a night club is going to clear the tunnel vision?” I can just barely see those green eyes roll under all that hair.

“It will allow him to see beautiful women. Maybe he will start to glance around.”

He huffs, “Sure, mom. Whatever you say. I’ll take him out.”

“I’m glad you’re home, son,” I say, as he pours another cup and goes back upstairs.
