49: Rebirth of a warrior

I bowed my head as my heart sunk knowing I had just faced yet another rejection. I reopened my eyes, startled by how they all suddenly burst out laughing. Clyde pulled my wrist, forcing me to sit beside him.

“is that how you expected us to react?” he raised one of his eyebrows at me, “don’t be silly, that's why I brought you here to begin with, when I saw you, I just knew you would be one of us.”

“one of us?” I looked between him and his weird welcoming family, “what are you people?”

“outcasts, you can say a village of rogues.”

“A village?”

“Did you think all those places you saw on your way we are unoccupied?”

Hearing him talk like this brought me so much calmness and happiness in my soul.

"And that's why you brought me here?” I raised one eyebrow at him.

He shrugged his shoulders. I no longer had to deal with the rankings. I no longer had to be someone's servant in this place. I could tell that everyone was equal, regardless of who they were or what they identified as.
