You fool! Why did you let him go, you should have faced those despicable women and looked for him! My she-wolf shouted at the back of my mind in despair.
That made me stop halfway, and for the first time, I realized that not only did I not feel cold, but I had walked much faster than usual. His awakening had affected my body in a matter of seconds.
"This is crazy."
I was amazed at what supernatural powers could do to a body, especially if it's a weak half-breed.
Stop thinking nonsense; you need to look for our Mate, you silly girl! The she-wolf said it with annoyance, and I smiled at her mere existence.
Of all the creatures that could touch me, I never thought I would be touched by a bold she-wolf without the sense of touch. It was very contradictory because I always believed that the more powerful a werewolf was, the harder his beast would be to handle, and this one seemed to be untamable, which didn't necessarily bode well.
We can't look for him now; even if I wanted to, I don't work in the house anymore, I don't have the power to face anyone and right now they won't let me in. We should look for him at the right time, when we can get close. I told her to calm down, and I heard her grunt of absolute refusal, and then the silence was absolute.
It was as if she had gone to sleep after a tantrum.
The feeling was extreme, and I was happy because my she-wolf woke up, so I would finally make my change and the pack would somehow accept me. Best of all, I had found my mate, and that was phenomenal. I had hope, so I smiled.
I got home and decided to clean and tidy things up, but by noon, my whole body ached, and I felt like I was going to explode. I tried to talk to my she-wolf, but she didn't respond, so I took a deep breath and tried to let the discomfort pass without success. It was as if the symptoms that had bothered me the previous days had intensified.
When nightfall came and the moon began to glimmer, I knew I would have to leave the house or I would change there. So it was with some pain that I put on layers of clothing and left to go into the woods. As best I could, I went unnoticed; however, I had to crawl into the forest glade, and at that moment, I felt a change in the atmosphere. As never before, the clouds cleared, the snowfall dissolved, and the moon shone in its maximum splendor until the pain went through my whole body.
At that moment, I felt like I was going to die.
"At last, your gift has awakened," said a voice I couldn't quite place amidst the mess. "Use it wisely, and don't forget that it doesn't matter where you come from; what matters is who you are."
And as if by some kind of magnetism, I got down on all fours and stared at the moon for several minutes in a kind of trance. I felt a halo of light strike directly at me, and there, at that precise moment, I felt my body break apart piece by piece to be rebuilt. I lost control of my limbs; I was no longer the one in control. My she-wolf awoke with energy, and by the time I realized it, she began to howl excitedly and started running like there was no tomorrow.
Something clicked between the two of us, as if the connection had just clicked.
At that moment, I felt free and went to the deepest part of the forest. I hunted, jumped everywhere, and went to the stream that was about to freeze. When I looked at my reflection, I realized that I was easily a small Omega wolf, a beautiful grayish color that could blend in with the other wolves in the pack.
That instant, I was so happy that I wasn't aware that another wolf was nearby until it jumped on me, making me fall on my belly and growling, showing its jaws on top of my neck as a form of supremacy.
My heart began to pound wildly, but then the smell completely enraptured me, and my wolf was overjoyed. Without hesitation, she controlled our body and began to give affectionate licks to the colossal reddish wolf, and it was at this moment that the wolf responded with equal intensity.
I felt the tug of magnetic attraction and understood that this was a sublime moment I was having with Stefan, as our beasts were recognizing each other. Suddenly I stood up, and we began to play, then to run, and finally I felt a living bond between the two of us.
At one point in those games, I changed to my human appearance, and he didn't hesitate to do it right away. Then I looked at Stefan completely naked, aware that the man was my predestined partner, the one with whom I would achieve ultimate happiness.
I felt how his gaze missed no detail of me.
"Who are you?" he asked in a very soft voice, and I was embarrassed by the effect he had on me. "You're new to changing, so you're going to need a lot of practice."
"I—"
My words wouldn't come out; I blushed all over and heard my wolf's internal giggles. Then I was aware of my nakedness, so much so that I covered myself, and Stefan denied.
"You don't need to be shy," he said, and he bent down to look closely at me, then gently took me by the chin. "You're mine; with me, you're going to show yourself as you are."
I nodded, and Stefan Gray, my mate, kissed me.
At first it was soft, as if he was feeling me out, then it was sweet as sparks ran through our bodies in recognition, and shyness won me over.
"Are you a virgin?" he asked, and I nodded nervously. "Good, because if another male had touched you, I would have killed him right away."
His voice was gruff, and a part of me was delighted at that possessiveness because it was synonymous with the man wanting me, so I was left in no doubt when he kissed me again.
This time he kissed me with such intensity that I felt like I was on cloud nine, so much so that I didn't realize at what point I was lying on the floor, and he slipped between my legs. We made love in a spectacular way. It was a divine experience that left me panting and happy, so much so that when we finished, I was only smiles and he had me sitting on top of him, kissing me without fear.
"You're mine, and you're a dangerous addiction," he murmured as he placed kisses on my neck that gave me shivers of the good kind. "Tell me your name."
"Alice," I said, and there was no acknowledgement.
"Very well, Alice, from this moment on, I will be your everything," he said, and I felt like I was going to faint from the intensity with which he remarked those words. "You are the most delicious thing the Goddess gave me, and I will always have you to myself."
My she-wolf instinctively wanted to mark him, but he evaded the action, so I put my collar around his neck as naturally as possible so that he would be the one to mark me. However, there was no progress. Then I saw him and realized that he must have had an internal struggle with his beast. His reaction was to give me a chaste kiss on the forehead, and he stood up, as if to try to calm down.
Do you know what's going on? I asked the she-wolf with some fear.
Dilon says that the human doesn't want to mark us yet and that he wants to wait for the right moment, she replied with annoyance.
Dilon? There are no other people here, I said, confused.
That's his beast's name, silly girl, she mused with a certain hatred that almost brought a smile to my face.
And what's your name? I asked her curiously.
Selene.
She was named after the Goddess herself, so I smiled to myself.
"Where are your clothes, Alice?" asked Stefan, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"In the glade in the forest, when I started to change, I went there and left everything."
"Then let's go get it; I'm going to change, and if you feel exhausted, just climb on my back and hold on tight."
I nodded and smiled at his command; he was too cute and gentlemanly. Then he came up to me and gently kissed me again.
In a few seconds, he was a big red-haired beast and gave me a light lick on my hands. Then I tried to change again, but I couldn't because of tiredness. I had to regulate my energies better; I felt a bit exhausted; however, I followed his instructions and climbed on Dilon's back, who seemed to be the most adorable thing in the world.
It was the best day of my life.
I squealed with glee as we ran, which Dilon accompanied with a happy yelp. It was magnificent, so I got off and put on my clothes. Stefan returned to his human body and looked at me with some intrigue, studying me as if I were a rare piece of a puzzle.
"I'll see you all these nights here in the forest glade," he said and I reached out and he kissed my hand, "We have a date here; don't miss it."
"But... The Alpha's death—"
"That doesn't matter now; for now I want to enjoy you in private, have you to myself," he said before moving closer to sniff my neck. "Then you'll be mine before the whole world, and we're going to enjoy it very much."
I nodded and thought his behavior was because he wanted to respect the mourning for his father's death before introducing his Mate. A lot of butterflies furrowed my belly from nerves because I would become the Luna of the pack, so I would have an important position and so they would respect me.
Silly me, I didn't see the signs.
He left, and I was left sighing with a big smile. Then I walked to my dwelling. I did not foresee that a couple of young wolves that had not yet changed, with whom I shared at the academy, were at the edge of the forest. One of them sniffed at me and laughed.
"You sure work the same job as your mother and went to Wallow with a client in the forest," he said while the other was amused, so I ignored them.
That made them approach me, and one without mediating words grabbed my hands abusively. My wolf took some of the control, and I growled loudly at them. That made them let go of me.
"Wow, she has a she-wolf inside her," the other one said, surprised.
I growled again, guided by my she-wolf, and they walked away. I was shocked at the impact that had had.
What the hell was that? I asked Selene.
That's called shooing idiots, so have some character, girl, because from now on you're not going to let anyone walk all over you, she replied forcefully.
AliceIt was the fifth night that I was meeting Stefan in the forest glade and I felt that for the first time, life was giving me some of the happiness that had been taken from me after my father's death in that horrible war against the vampires.I felt blissful, so I made a picnic for my mate to feed him as tradition dictated. When he arrived that night, he looked tense, but once he saw the surprise I had in store for him, he simply smiled and surrendered to the moment."You're a sweetheart, and you're mine," he said before carrying me and turning me sweetly. That's what our meetings boiled down to, meeting, making love, and then letting our beasts free to play with all the energy of life. It was fun, but I wanted to be able to talk to him about what was going to happen to us. I needed to tell him who I was."I need us to talk about something—" Stefan wouldn't let me finish and put a finger to my lips."I don't want us to talk about anything; right now, what I want is to spend a few
Stefan Meeting my Mate had been the best of distractions; however, I had a goal, and in it, Alice did not fit as my Luna, so finding out she was a half-breed served perfectly to publicly reject her.I hated half-breeds because they represented the impurity of our race. We had been through so much, and staying above ground was a priority, so maintaining purity was vital to not losing ourselves. But it was hard to hate her, especially after having tasted her in full. It was so much of an aftertaste of her that Dilon, my wolf, was applying the law of ice to me for keeping him away from his mate.I had promised Dilon that the rejection would not be for life and that after using Circe in my conquest plans, I could have his little wolf. At that time, I was more interested in setting a precedent for this in my pack so that people would understand how radical I was with my rules. So, I started changing certain rules.I had a goal, and I needed everyone to serve me perfectly."From now on, al
AliceIf I had ever been asked if I could be worse off than before, I would never have answered yes until that very moment when my life was reduced to ashes. If I had ever known the myth of the devil, Stefan was the embodiment of it; there was no way anyone would treat his Mate in such a dastardly manner. After being locked in a dungeon where the embracing cold was the most important companion after the darkness, I learned what the meaning of hell could be in life. For Stefan, I was nothing more than a piece of meat with which he could be satisfied. That's why every day when he came to touch me to unburden himself to his heart's content, he drained me completely.I had no hope and no desire to fight. After the first night, he abused me, and my she-wolf came out to defend me and brought some moonstone chains to override the connection I had with her. Selene had bitten him, and several guards and Ime were about to let go, but they injected us with a tranquilizer that knocked us out on t
JacksonI woke up with a cold feeling in my body.It was as if something was warning me of a bad omen, but I couldn't give the feeling a second thought. That moment, there was a knock on my door, and I sighed because the work never stopped. When I opened it, I realized it was one of the guards knocking, and he looked worried."Sorry to bother you, sir, but we have a little problem with one of the night patrols," he said with embarrassment. "The group whose turn it was to patrol the southern border is indisposed.""The whole group is indisposed.""Yes, sir, they are intoxicated with passion elixir," he commented with some embarrassment.I nodded and held back laughter. In another time, when I wouldn't have had the responsibility of caring for and watching over the world's largest herd, I would have enjoyed this. It was super entertaining stuff, but it was a logistical problem."Tell the rookie team we have night training now. I'll take them to the southern border to practice with me,"
JacksonI looked at my mate with some guilt.I didn't know who she was or where she came from, much less her history, but I did know that, perhaps, if I had gone following the Council's recommendation that I go back to actively seek my fated mate in other territories, I would have found her sooner, and whatever happened to her wouldn't have happened. My head was a seething mass of questions about it."What are you thinking so hard about?" asked Angel before sitting down next to me."That maybe if there were—""The 'would have's' have no place in people's destinies," he replied earnestly, and then patted me on the back to comfort me. "What is meant to be will be; there are no more versions of that. The Goddess maps out our destiny, so don't question that momentous fact; just think about what you need to do to give the best version of you to your mate; she's going to need it when she wakes up; we don't know what she wants to do."I nodded because he was right."I just hope she wakes up
AliceI woke up with a terrible headache.I didn't know exactly what was wrong with me; I had a great heaviness in my body. I felt as if a mountain had crushed me, and I had the feeling that something was missing. So, I opened my eyes in fear, and the light flooded me completely, so I closed them tightly. It was like a kind of momentary blindness that made me hold a hand to my head in discomfort.I groaned in pain and brought my other hand to my chest as I felt a kind of emptiness. It was annoying, but bearable; I just had to find a way to get up. Nausea invaded me, but I managed to control it. I needed to go to the bathroom, so I sat up slowly, and when I opened my eyes, I looked at a man I had never seen before. He had an expression of astonishment on his face, and I felt confused.I didn't understand where I was or who he was.I frowned, trying to remember him to figure out what was going on, but nothing came to mind, and I reflexively began to deny. However, when he moved, terror
AliceEating had felt like a little piece of glory.I had to admit that after weeks of torture eating only small portions of stale, hard bread, anything could be heaven, but this breakfast I was eating was too tasty. It had a unique taste, one that reminded me a little of how my father used to cook for me before the war.A sadness immediately washed over me at the memory. At that moment, Enya came into the room with some clean sheets, and seeing that I was eating, she smiled eagerly, as if watching me eat was the best of pleasures."If you want more, just ask; I made enough and have it stored in the kitchen. Many times some of the apprentice wolves come in looking for what to eat, and I always have something to serve them," she commented matter-of-factly, and she set the sheets aside before opening the closet to arrange them as well as to assess the clothes in there. "I don't know what outfit might fit you, but this might be of use to you." She pulled out a very pretty green dress. "T
AliceEnya kindly showed me around the house. It was a big, cozy place with stunning views of the forest and a garden that seemed to be a florist's dream, as well as having a large space where many cars could be parked. I liked that it had an open concept where any member of the pack could go and order whatever they wanted. It was very different from how things were run in the Southern Pack.It took a little while to have people around, but Enya made everything a lot easier. With her gift of gab, she introduced me to those she could, always keeping her distance, and the most pleasant part of the process was realizing that the Alpha was right. No one looked at me with any expression of contempt; rather, everyone was curious as to how it was that I had gotten there."Does no one know that the Alpha saved me?" I asked carefully, and Enya denied it."Only the ones who were on patrol that night—the ones who brought you here and the ones who took care of you know. But that's not going to co
