Chapter 8

Alice

I woke up with a terrible headache.

I didn't know exactly what was wrong with me; I had a great heaviness in my body. I felt as if a mountain had crushed me, and I had the feeling that something was missing. So, I opened my eyes in fear, and the light flooded me completely, so I closed them tightly. It was like a kind of momentary blindness that made me hold a hand to my head in discomfort.

I groaned in pain and brought my other hand to my chest as I felt a kind of emptiness.

It was annoying, but bearable; I just had to find a way to get up. Nausea invaded me, but I managed to control it. I needed to go to the bathroom, so I sat up slowly, and when I opened my eyes, I looked at a man I had never seen before. He had an expression of astonishment on his face, and I felt confused.
