Chapter 54: Punishment

I woke up groggily, rubbing the sleep off my eyes. Turning on the lantern, I realised that I only had thirty minutes to get ready to meet the king for my punishment. A shiver ran down my spine, partly from fear and from the chilling breeze.

Sleeping opposite me was Lisa. She had been released and compensated. She was given a week-long break. Lucky her, but what led to it couldn't be called luck. I tiptoed around the room to get dressed. I wore a long worn out coat over my dress to keep out the cold. Then I left the room without making a sound.

I went through the workers entrance and I got outside. I saw a few guards in front, so I turned to avoid them. I finally got to the glass house. I had left ten minutes before time, so there must be two minutes remaining now. I definitely didn't want another punishment for tardiness.
