Engaged?

Maya POV

The following days have been peaceful. Gideon accompanies me every chance he gets. He's busy, as the King of such a big Kingdom, he is bound to be occupied.

Brianna spends her days with me together with two other guards Gideon prepared for me.

I tried convincing him that I did not need any guards but he's adamant about it so I let it slide.

I can understand his fears though. With dark magic resurfacing again, everybody was in danger, not only me.

Brianna has been acting cautious around me. She counts her words anytime we are chatting. I guess chatting isn't the right word anymore because I do almost all the talking.

I can tell she is hiding something from me.

It's not in my position to force her to spill her secrets so I just ignore it. But why do I feel like whatever she's hiding has something to do with me?

Since I can't go training with the rest of the warriors, we train with Brianna.

Samantha sometimes comes around and trains with me.

I feel much stronger nowadays.
