CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

I hardly had any sleep the night before, staying beside Emily most of the time or going back out to the reception to stay with Joshua and Bryan. They looked so good together and I was glad they were my friends.

I couldn't help fidgeting with the thought of what would happen the morning to come. I would have to leave them and go and fight for the team. I didn't want to let Emily down but I didn't want to let the class down more.

Emmanuel finally came for me at dawn and we were off before I could even say anything to Bryan or his boyfriend.

I never got permission from Emily to take her place, and was doing it anyways.

The drive back to school was way longer than the drive on our way here. I finally noticed things I hadn't when we were in the car earlier.

We had left the suburbs and went into the city to get to the clinic where Emily was, and now we were going back to the school.

I felt like I had been given a death sentence the entire time.
