chapter fifty-two

Emily Parker POV

"Wouldn't you sleep in the other room?" I asked, seeing Tyler next to me with that sleepy look.

"And you're starting early?" he retorted.

"You're an idiot," I grumbled, sitting on the bed. Today was worse than the other days; the leg pains started early. Unable to look down properly, I searched for my sandals with my foot, but it was impossible to find them. I got up anyway and saw that I had left them near the door.

"I need to go out today. I want you not to be wandering around playing crazy and leaving without any security, or better yet, don't leave the house," Tyler said, going to the window and opening the curtain. To my surprise, it was a rainy day, almost without sun.

"Are you meeting your mom?" I asked.

"What do you have against her, Emily? She's deceiving you, Tyler. You're the only one who can't see it," I said, tying my hair.

"You could go easy on her; after all, she doesn't have your trust because of your father."
