Chapter 23: One Step Closer
Austin looks at him with a bored and cold expression plastered on her face. She keeps on staring both Grey and Shaun without speaking.
First, they are not close. Second, she doesn’t know them clearly yet and lastly, she beat the hell of his cousin, so why would he want to let his beaten cousin take her home?
Although flooded with questions and curiosity, she just shakes her head.
“I can take care of myself. I’ve been doing it for years, it’s not like this is a first. And I don’t need anybody’s concern and affection,” she said without breaking an eye with Grey.

“What is it? Just… tell me… right now.” Grey pants, after running as fast as he can right when he heard from Justin that Shaun wants to see him. As soon as he enter the woods just behind Crescent Moon, he knew Shaun is around. He can smell the anxious scent Shaun is giving off. An anxious, frustrated and desperate kind of smell. Love conquers all, they said. But if a monstrous, blood thirsty beast like me is the one who falls in love, can I really conquers all with only love in my hands? Would our love take away all the fear she would feel upon seeing a beast right before her eyes. I doubt it. I have seen it before. Love is not enough. When one see someone or something beyond their imagination, a beast for example in front of them, one could easily toss away all the things they have gone through. People could easily throw something they can’t understand. That’s the worst part of being a human. Unlike us, we can’t choose who we fall in love with. It has been written in our very soul who we are destined to be with. We can’t toss them aside not unless they tosses us first.
