Chapter 2: Meet My Son

Nathalie Wrights's P. O. V.

Even if I don’t look, I know that his eyes are on me the whole time. I just wanted to excuse myself now and leave them alone, but I know that I would just sound so rude to them if I do so.

And why have I even been affected anyway? Aren’t everything that happened already in the past?

This man probably doesn’t even know me now! I’m sure that he’s with someone else now so why am I still affected?!

I took another glass of champagne before I drank it without stopping myself. I can hear them talking to each other before the lights went dim and all these women left the table to dance with their husbands.

I didn’t dare to look to my side because I know that Kyrie was still there. Pretending not to care for him, I decided to take another glass and drink it when a hand stop me and took the glass away from me.

I was frozen in my seat when he moved next to me before he caress my right cheek using his index finger.

“Tensed, love?” He whispered in my ear with an emotionless voice.

I hold my breath as I feel the warmth of his finger on my cheek and the heat of his body just next to mine.

I felt when my hands shake in nervousness before I heard his cold laugh.

“Calm down… I won’t do anything to you, you know that…” His words were comforting, but I don’t feel any comfort at all. “Should I prove it?”

I felt like he was up to no good. Kyrie used to be a gentle person, a man of his words, but right now, I can sense that behind his good and comforting words, there’s something that he’s about to do.

I fake a cough before I smile at him as I did my best to meet his scorching and deadly eyes.

“Mr. Menzel, aren’t you supposed to dance with your date now? I mean, look around… You’re the host of this party, why aren’t you joining them?” I asked him nicely and formally.

“Should I?” He asked me.

My eyebrows twitched a little after I heard his question.

“Yeah, you should?” I asked him, not sure of my answer.

“Yeah?” He stood up from his seat before he took my hand and pulled me up. “Let’s go, then..”

My eyes widened in surprise. I wasn’t able to say no and protest for what he wanted because he already managed to pull me into the center of the dance floor.

Not wanting to embarrass myself, I just agreed and positioned myself to start a dance with him. I felt like I was burned when his warm hand was placed on my back.

I fake a cough as I feel uncomfortable with his touches before I heard him chuckle at my tensed reactions.

“Silly, girl..” Although he’s laughing, I can’t sense any emotion in his voice. Gone the happiness he used to have whenever he would laugh at me. “Are we strangers here?”

I swallowed my own saliva as I look into his eyes while we are dancing to the romantic song.

“W-Why are you here?” I’d been tempted to ask him that ever since I saw him earlier but this is the only time I had the chance to ask.

“I’m doing business, isn’t that obvious, hon?” He asked me with a sarcastic grin on his face.

I was lost by his looks again and I should thank Mr. Coin after he approached me.

“Excuse me, Mr. Menzel. May I ask for a turn to have a dance with Ms. Wrights?” He politely asked Kyrie before he smiled at me.

I felt it when Kyrie tightened his grip. It felt like he doesn’t want to because there was a lot that we should talk about, but I can’t talk to him or stay with him any longer so I face Mr. Coin again before I smiled at him.

“Sure,” I let go of Kyrie before I gave him my hand.

“Hold on,” we were stopped when Kyrie spoke behind me.

We turned around and I saw him walk towards me before he stood in front of me with his hands in his pocket.

“Ms. Wrights,” he leaned down a little and whispered something in my ear. “I’ll wait for you upstairs.”

My forehead arched when I heard his words, but I didn’t dare to ask. Not here, in front of so many people. Even if it’s against my will, I nodded to him before I face Mr. Coin again.

“Shall we?” I asked him and he smiled politely at me again.

“Sure.” He pulled me beside him before we started dancing.

I diverted my gaze to where I left Kyrie and saw him walking out with his assistant.

I was wishing for the time to go by quickly when I was still dancing with him, but now, all I want is to stay here on the dance floor just so I could avoid Kyrie, but who am I fooling? I know Kyrie very well. When he said he'll wait, that probably means that I should go and meet him.

Because if I don't? Hell would surely break its bounds.

"Heard about your company, Ms. Wrights." I looked up to Mr. Coin and saw him looking straight into my eyes. "I felt sorry about what your business partner did to you."

I bitterly smiled at him. "It's okay, don't be. I'm doing my best now to restore my company."

"I heard too," he said. "By the way, Ms. Wrights. I have an offer for you.."

"Yeah?" I suddenly felt uncomfortable because of the stabbing glares that I am feeling.

It felt like someone was watching me from afar, but when I turned around, there was no one staring at me.

'Weird..' I said to myself.

"Are you listening, Ms. Wrights?" I was caught off guard when I heard Mr. Coin's voice again.

I diverted my attention to him and smiled apologetically.

"I-I'm sorry, Mr. Coin. What was your offer again?" I asked him, shyly.

"I was asking if you would be interested in meeting my son." He told me before he diverted his gaze from behind me. "He's seating over there."

'What? Did he just ask me to meet his son?'
