Chapter 15

When I opened my eyes, I had a thin layer of sweat covering my body, I could feel the dampness chill my body even though I could also feel the weight of the blanket on top of me. I forced myself to sit up and immediately called out the Echo.

‘Happy Birthday to us,’ she scoffed.

I clenched my shirt in my hands, steadying my heavy breathing, relieved that it was a dream, or more so a nightmare.

‘Thanks, I was worried about you too’ I rolled my eyes. I walked into the bathroom and started scrubbing my mouth out, as if the thick, sour, taste of fear, from my dream was real.

When I walked back towards my bed, I realized the sun was up, 8:36 read the clock beside my bed. I was usually one to never pay attention to time, but I wanted to get through my birthday.
