Levi and I stood at the threshold of the bedroom door as we spied on Mia. She had fallen asleep and she looked too peaceful and adorable to disturb. Her little nose was scrunched up and her brows dipped as she released shallow breaths through those petal pink lips.

This is why Elias had failed most mornings to wake her for school and asked someone else to do it instead. Watching her sleep had a feeling of comfort and ease wash over me.

It didn't matter what kind of being Mia was. I still loved her and saw her as a ray of sunshine that cut through thick clouds during a storm. She was a loving and caring being that's all that mattered. "I've known this child her entire life. Fed her, offered her comfort on nights she couldn't sleep, advised her as best as I could. It doesn't matter what she is. I don't think anything can make me stop loving her." His jaw flexed as he smiled down at me.
