“Rush her to the emergency ward!” The doctor said, and a stretcher was brought. She was placed on it and rushed in, while Sophia followed suit.
When they got there, Sophia was asked to wait outside while they attended to her. She paced back and forth as she remembered the doctor's words and prayed vehemently for nothing to happen to Amber.
Amber had gone through a lot, that she knew, and now just one single mistake and this had to happen? Her heart ached so much for her friend.
A few minutes later, the doctor came out and wiped the sweat that was on her forehead. Sophia rushed to her.
“How's she?”
“She just suffered from shock and will be fine.” The doctor answered.
Sophia sighed in relief. “Can I go and see her?” She asked.
“Sure.” The doctor smiled and left.
Sophia rushed into the ward and met Amber crying her heart out. She gestured for the nurses to leave and sat beside her, then patted her shoulder.
“Why is my life like this, Sophia? Why?” She wailed. “It was only one goddamn night and this happened? Why, just tell me why? Why has my life been nothing but a rollercoaster ride of sorrow and pain? Don't I deserve to be happy like everyone else? Don't I?” She wailed loudly.
It was so sad that Sophia didn't know when her tears fell. “It's alright, Amber. Everything will be fine, okay?”
“I've heard that countless times and nothing has ever been fine. My life is officially over, Sophia. I failed. I failed woefully.” She buried her face in her palms and wept.
“Stop saying that, Amber. You aren't a failure. You're a typical example of an independent woman. You work for your money and don't resort to dubious means to get them. You've been working and struggling to pay your parents' debt. Not all ladies can do this, Amber. Your parents are proud of you wherever they are. Don't let this silly mistake change your perspective about yourself and life. You're more than this, please.” Sophia pleaded, but Amber shook her head.
“It's all my fault, Sophia. Everything. I can't become a single mother at this stage.” She cried.
“Amber, it better not be what I'm thinking. You're keeping this baby, do you hear me?” Sophia snapped.
“I wasn't thinking of aborting the baby either,” She said. So many thoughts rushed through her head that moment, like what would people say when they find out that she's pregnant? Her life was already a total mess, and she wouldn't want stigmatization to worsen it for her. She needed somewhere to clear her head; somewhere no one would know her and she would be able to bear her children and raise them in peace.
“What about the guy? Won't you find him and tell him?” Sophia asked.
Amber snickered. “He looked like all these rich Billionaires, Sophia. Do you think he would believe me? He would simply accuse me of trying to get money from him by using blackmail.” She sighed.
“You're right.” Sophia nodded.
Amber sighed. “Sophia, I want to leave this country. I can't bear staying here anymore. I have my travel documents already and once I'm out of this hospital, I'll be gone for good.” She said,
Sophia understood why she was doing this, and she felt the least she could do as a friend was to support her. She got close and engulfed Amber in a comforting hug while the latter cried on her shoulders.

Amber was discharged from the hospital two days later and packed her things. Sophia escorted her to the airport to bid her farewell.
“Make sure you call me when you land, okay?” Sophia said and Amber smiled.
“I will. Thanks for always standing by my side, Sophia. If you weren't here, I don't know what I would have done to myself. Thanks for your support, your love and care. I love you.” She hugged Sophia.
Sophia patted her back. “I love you too. Just don't stay there forever and come back soon, else I might kill you.” She warned and Amber chuckled.
“I'll keep that in mind.” She smiled and pulled away from the hug. Her name was called and she sighed. “That's my cue,” She smiled. “I'll miss you, bestie.” She pecked Sophia's cheek.
“I'll miss you more.” Sophia hugged her again.
“Stop trying to be strong. Let the tears flow already,” Amber said, and Sophia burst into tears.
“I'll miss you damn much!” She cried while Amber patted her back. Her name was called again, and she pulled away from the hug. She blew Sophia a kiss and started leaving. Sophia stared at her back as she left, and Amber would turn at intervals to check if she was still there. This continued until she was out of sight.
Sophia stayed until the plane took off and waved. “Go and have a happy life, Amber. You deserve it.”

“We couldn't find her, sir.”
Xavier couldn't believe his ears. “What the hell did you just say? It's been 3 months, 3 fucking months, and you come back to tell me you couldn't find her?” He snapped, slamming the files in his hand on the desk.
“You have to calm down, Xavier.” Jake said.
“Don't tell me to calm down, Jake. They aren't doing their jobs. I gave them different ways to find this girl, but they're still coming back to disappoint me. What the heck!” He snapped.
The officer had his head bowed. He knew better than to talk when Xavier was talking, especially when he was mad. He might lose his job if he opened his mouth and so, he remained quiet.
“Now go back and utilize those things I gave you well and find that girl. I'll also do something on my end, and you better not disappoint me this time.” He ordered.
“Yes, sir!” He saluted and walked out.
Xavier ruffled his hair as he paced around the office. How on Earth was he going to find this girl? He was able to remember her face even though it was blurry and had given that description to the officers and search team and still, they were disappointing him. He wanted to find this girl at all cost and get rid of the guilt that was eating him whole.
Ever since that incident, he had stopped drinking whenever he felt down, and his parents weren't even helping matters at all. They kept disturbing and pressuring him to get married, even when he told them he needed time.
“You have to calm down, Xavier. I'm sure they'll find her.” Jake assured him.
“They better do it.” He said and sighed.
“You're rushing them too much, and that's why you aren't getting what you want. You have to be patient and wait.” Jake said.
“I've waited for three months and got nothing, Jake. How long do I have to wait again? Five years?”
Five years later…San Francisco Airport…A woman stepped out of the plane majestically. She wore a beautiful suit and her long brown hair was swept back to frame her face perfectly. Her lips were painted a dazzling red, with just a hint of pink at her chin to offset the contrast. She carried herself gracefully, her movements flowing with ease despite her elegant attire. She had sunglasses on and exuded an air of authority as she made her way towards baggage claim. Once there, she took off her shades to glance around her with an air of superiority. She spotted a man in an expensive suit and walked up to him, greeting him by holding out one hand politely.“Mr. Brown!” She smiled and they shook hands.“Welcome back to San Francisco. How have you been?” He asked.“I'm good, sir. Just one moment, I need to introduce you to my kids.” She smiled and pulled down her sunglasses, so he could see that she meant it with every fiber of her being.“Mummy!” The triplets shouted at the same time as t
"No! This can't be happening!" Amber screamed mentally. How on Earth did she end up with him again? And worse, she was going to stay in the same office with him.Xavier on the other hand, looked at the panicstricken woman in front of him. She looked quite familiar but he couldn't place his fingers on where he had seen her before.Amber felt like the ground should open up and swallow her whole. His scrutinizing gaze was terrifying her and she was holding herself from bolting out of there."I'm sorry, what's your name?" He asked.Amber opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She cleared her throat and answered. "Amber Wilfred, Sir. My name is Amber Wilfred." She said hoarsely and he smiled."Have you met before?" He asked."No!" She answered immediately and Xavier arched his eyebrows. "I mean, no sir. We are just meeting for the first time. I've been in the States for some years now." She answered, hoping that would divert his attention away from her.Xavier massaged his temple
"Shut up!" Sophia exclaimed. "Are you for real?" She asked.Amber had returned from work, distracted the kids with television and told Sophia all that happened. Sophia, being a fan of Xavier De Vil couldn't believe he was the one her best friend drunkenly had a one night stand with. It looked surreal to her and she didn't know which other emotion to portray aside shock and surprise."I was so shocked and felt like the ground should open and swallow me whole. The tension was much and when he saved me from falling, I don't really know how to describe the way I felt." She said,Sophia chuckled. "Babe, you're very lucky, do you know that?" She asked.Amber furrowed her brows. She looked at Sophia and laughed at the expression on Sophia's face. When Sophia looks like that, it was either she was about to say something crazy or she was up to no good."What do you mean?" Amber asked and Sophia moved closer to her."Xavier De Vil is among this country's top 5 richest young Billionaires, rankin
Amber walked into the kitchen with Sophia trailing behind her."Are you being serious girl!" Sophia said."Please Sophia, I already said I'm not doing it, I love my life like this, I and my kids are happy and the kids aren't even asking me about their father, I've been taking care of my kids by myself for the past five years and I don't have a problem doing so." She stated, Sophia sighed."Alright then, I just thought....""I know you mean the best for I and the kids Sophia, but I wouldn't want to make the mistake of telling the truth to Xavier and what if he takes it the other way huh, if I go to jail or worse have my kids taken away from me, what will become of me then, these kids are my life, they're all I have and God forbid, if I loose my kids then I might as well kill myself and end it all." She said, trying to hold back her tears.Sophia felt really bad for what she's done, she didn't mean to hurt Amber or make her cry but she still managed to do it either ways and she's regret
The building was a huge one with amazing interior and exterior decor. The office buzzed with employees going about their daily activities.Others were seated with their eyes fixed on their laptop.Suddenly they felt a cold chill and they knew instantly that their Boss was in the building."Good morning Mr Xavier." They greeted but he ignored them as usual. He walked briskly to his office and his secretary trailed behind him.He got to his office and he sat and his eyes went up to his secretary and she quickly bowed.Xavier sighed wondering why she was avoiding eye contact."What's on the schedule for today?" He asked.Amber instantly checked the tab she was holding."You have a meeting now Sir." She said softly.Xavier stood up, buttoned his suit and left, with Amber trailing behind him.***Meeting Hall...At table could be seen at the middle of some men, who were dressed in black tuxedo's adorned with black Italian shoes. Bottle waters and laptop were placed on the table. A projecto
Amber was busy working on her laptop, but she could feel Xavier's eyes on her, but she tried to ignore it despite the fact that it made her feel uncomfortable."Why the hell is he staring at me!!" She mentally screamed.Meanwhile, no matter how hard Xavier tried to keep his eyes away, he just can't stop staring at her, her beauty was mesmerizing and the way she worked on her laptop, every single thing she does entice him greatly. If only he knew how uncomfortable he was making her feel, then he would stop staring at her.Amber shut her eyes briefly and she heaved a deep breath, she just can't continue letting him stare at her like that. She turned to face him, putting on a small smile. "Do you need anything Sir?" She asked, jolting Xavier out of his thoughts."No, I don't." Xavier cleared his throat loudly. "I'm sorry." He apologized, knowing she must have noticed him staring at her."It's alright Sir." Amber lied, nothing was in fact all right, all she wanted to do was get the hell o
When Xavier got to the office, he couldn't find Amber there. He walked to his table thinking she might have gone to use the rest room or something, but he was surprised to see a note on his table. He picked it up and opened it.It was a note from Amber."I'm so sorry Sir, something urgent came up and I had to leave early, you were in a meeting and I didn't want to bother you, I'm deeply sorry Sir."Xavier dropped the note, then he took a sit. A deep frown appeared on his face as he wondered what could possibly have happened.Meanwhile, Amber rushed back home the moment she got a call from Sophia informing her that Elena was running a temperature."Elena!" Amber called as she ran inside, breathing heavily."Elena. Sophia!""Upstairs." Sophia yelled.Amber ran upstairs to the kids room, when she got in, she met the Jenna and Jaden sitting at each side of Elena, while Sophia sat on a chair watching them."What happened?" She asked as she went to join them on the bed.She used her palm to
The car pulled up in front of Xavier's mansion and he got down, he took a deep breath as he stood outside staring at the mansion, he's been avoiding his parents for sometime now and that's been making him stay at the hotel instead of his home, but how long will he run.He took in a deep breath before going inside, knowing his mother is bound to bombard him with different questions. When Xavier got in, he heard loud chattering and laughter, he went to living room and saw his mother and father talking to young beautiful lady.Xavier furrowed his brow as he wondered who the lady was.His mother caught sight of him and she smiled. "Speak of the devil and he shall appear." She laughed.Xavier literally scoffed when he heard that. His mother stood up and went to meet him. "So. Are you done running?" She asked. Xavier frowned."What do you mean?""Haven't you been avoiding us? Isn't that the reason you haven't been coming home, rather you've been staying at the hotel.""How did..." Xavier tr
