Adrenaline pumped into my veins. I thought I would hit the ground and had prepared myself for the great fall, but rather, I fell into strong powerful arms that held me tight as my dreadful scream was cut short.

It took me a second to recover and process that I was no longer falling… and had not crash-landed on the floor but my heart was still severely pounding.

I opened my weary eyes and gaped into Ian’s sky-blue ones. To my surprise, he had been looking into my eyes as well—and not other ‘parts’ of my ‘body’—in a kind of mesmerizing way. Just staring at me, and didn’t break out of it until I deliberately blinked.

He shook his head and turned away, before falling back on me. “Where were we?”

Yeah, where were we? I jumped off him and punched him straight in the face. He wasn’t expecting it, I wasn’t planning it and he was unable to dodge it fast enough before it made some damage.

Ian held his face, grimacing while I stepped back, shooting out my claws. “You nearly killed me!
