“Mummy, I’m tired.”

I didn’t know where we were going but all I knew was that we needed to keep moving. It pained me in my heart to see how tired my kids were and being unable to do anything about it.

I was too tired to walk—thoughtless of carrying them.

‘Kat, we need a plan.’

Melora had been saying that for the past few minutes but I didn’t know how to answer her.

‘Kat just say something, anything.’

I rubbed Dash’s head and knew that they had enough. “Alright kids, we’ll take a little break.”

They dropped to the floor and made comfort in the thick bushes, snuggling with themselves due to the absence of pillows. They had taken an energy bar so we were okay—for now.

‘I don’t know what to do Mel. I’m afraid of walking because we might be walking into a trap. I’m afraid of staying because they might be after us. Nowhere is safe! Gosh, I wish Carissa was here. She has a solution to every problem.’
