Chapter 39

Kevin felt something wet dripping on him. He looked up and noticed the dark clouds above him. The rain poured down upon him. He sat like that for a few moments before he stood up with Alice in his arms. He walked toward his car, opened the back door, and laid her gently on the back seat. He wiped his tears roughly with his arm as he walked toward the driver's side and slid behind the wheel. He started the car and drove off.

Kevin stood in the field. The rain had stopped but the clouds were still thick and dark in the air.

With the shovel in his hand, he looked down at Alice’s grave a few km from the Orphanage that had burned down. This was their place, where they were happy, and this is the place where he wanted her to rest. Kevin slid on his knees. The gentle breeze blew past him leaving no sound. Like an ocean takes the dirty sand so has my heart been taken away with you. Only a shell of a man remains.

“Goth are you coming?” Amore called out from the distance.

He tore his eyes from the ocean in front of him and looked at the family of three waiting for him.

Isabella, Amore, and Nathan’s little girl came running toward him. He bend down and caught the little girl as she leaped into the air into his arms.

“Uncle Goth, why are your eyes wet? Are you not having a nice time?” Isabella asked.

“Goth quickly wiped his arms and smiled at the beautiful girl. No, beautiful. I am just thinking back of my beautiful girl.”

“Oh, okay. Pappa said we must go home now.”

“Okay, you go ahead first. I will follow behind.”

Goth smiled, he kissed her on her head and placed her down watching as she skips to her parents.”

Kevin looked one last time at the ocean before he turned around and walked back to the family of three.
