Chapter 31

‘I once heard the quote “I don’t want normal, easy, or simple. I want painful, difficult, devasting, life-changing, and extraordinary love.” But this shit is too much. I guess the love we had between us was one sided.’ Maisie thought to herself as she glared through her hair at Luca. Maisie had begged him when he dragged her out of the car but was left stunned when she felt a hard blow across her face. Everything turned to silence, death screaming silence. Maisie reached for her cheek and held it. The darkness that surrounded Maisie felt suffocating. With that one slap, she felt him tearing her heart out. A Strong hand gripped her on her shoulder and pulled her around.

“This one is the prettiest of them all, Luca.”

“Stop fucking around and take her inside,” Luca said with a sneer.

Maisie watched as Luca walked away without glancing backward. Maisie looked at his figure disappearing into the dark with a frown. “This must be all a mistake. Maybe he had no choice, and this is only for show. Yes, that is what this is.’ Maisie told herself as she let the guy pull her toward the house. She did not look around. Her mind raced with excuses for Luca’s reaction. ‘What would be the purpose to try and escape if Luca would take me away from here in a while.’ Maisie thought to herself.

Maisie ignored the lustful stares from the guys they passed as they walked through the house. She kept her head down and tried to make herself as small as possible. The guy led her down a few stairs until they reached the basement. The basement was dimly lit. Only one light hung against the wall. Maisie felt a lump in her throat as she peeked through her hair at her surroundings for the first time. The guy pulled her to a stop. He crouched down and opened a big metal lit. Pain shot up her arm from his harsh grip. She felt her head hitting the concreted. Before she passed out, she glance up at the guy who smirked down at her. The little light that was shining behind him, disappeared as he closed the lit. She prayed that Luca would come and get her as soon as possible, but a little voice in her head kept telling her that he would not. Maisie let the darkness take her as she closed her eyes.

Maisie’s eyes shot open as she gasps for air. An intense pain shot through her head as she shook it. Drenched in water, Maisie closed her eyes and open them again. She pulled at her arms but discovered them tied behind her back. Maisie noticed she was strapped to a chair. Her head jerks up in the direction of a chuckle, forgetting for a moment the intense pain in her head. She cringed when the pain increased. A man crouched before her. He was chewing on a toothpick. He moved it with his tongue to the side of his mouth as he tilted his head and looked at her revealing his yellow teeth. His greasy brown hair looked like it was not washed recently. His brown eyes looked almost black. A chill ran through Maisie's body as he jerked her chin up.

“We are going to have so much fun with you,” he said,

A tear ran down her cheek which he wiped away with his filthy thumb. Maisie avoided his eyes. She felt the grip on her chin increase. A cry escaped her lips.

Maisie’s eyes shot to the door as she noticed it open. They had somehow moved her to a dimly light room. A metal table stood in the middle of the room with chains hanging up both of it. The sound of boots stepping on the cement echoed through the room. A figure she knew all too well. He was the first and only man that could ever knock her from underneath her feet. He came into her life in a flash and stole her heart. Everything he did Maisie fell in love with. Saying she was smitten with him would be an understatement. The feeling in her chest told her, she was fooling herself if she believed that he would be the man in shining armor, no, he was more like a devil dressed in sheepskin. How could someone change this much? Maisie loved the way he smiled, his voice sounded when he told her something random. But the sound of his voice now felt foreign. His smile looked like it belonged to someone else. ‘Being fooled by love is an understatement,’ Maisie thought to herself.

“I asked you a question did you not hear me,’ The man who was crouched in front of Maisie spat out.

Maisie's eyes were still fixed on Luca’s. Luca’s eyes bore back into hers. It was the first time Maisie could see his soul and it made her blood feel cold. She knew at that moment, her life was in these people’s hands. She wasted her opportunity to escape. She placed all her hope in someone who was the one responsible for putting her here. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the guy’s hand coming down with force. She felt the corner of her lip tear open and tasted the blood as it poured into her mouth.

“Why…” Maisie asked in a hoarse voice.

“Answer me when I talk to you!” She felt the guy in front of her spit against her face as he screamed.

Maisie lifted her chin and glared at Luca, ignoring the man in front of her.

“Why?” Her tone was cleared now. He had to hear her.

The guy bowed forward and started laughing. He looked over his shoulder and stared at Luca.

“Do you want to do the honors of breaking the news to princess over here or shall I?”

Silence echoed throughout the room. Even if she died at that moment she wanted to know why. Why her?
