I stepped away from Matteo and glared at him; he just smiled as if nothing had happened, and that made me even angrier. I had asked him not to do it again, and he had taken my words as if they meant nothing.

"Don't come near me again," I warned him angrily.

"I'm sorry," he said with a smile.

I turned away without saying anything and walked away. I didn't want anything to do with him for now. I entered the building and took the elevator, waited until it opened, and walked to my apartment.

"Kat," someone called me.

I turned around immediately; Hayden was standing there, looking at me strangely.

"Why?" he asked me.

I looked at him and then understood what he was trying to tell me.

"It's not what you think," I clarified.

Hayden started to cry; he ran both hands over his face in despair.

"I swear it's not what you think. Let me explain, please," I begged him.

I felt myself getting desperate and didn't know what to do or say to make him stop crying.
