Chapter 9

When the anesthetic wore off, Lexi woke up.

"You're awake."

Lexi turned her head and saw Claude standing by the window. Although the anesthesia had worn off, she still felt weak and limp. She assumed the abortion had already been performed.

To her surprise, Claude suddenly said, "The abortion hasn't been done yet. The child is still there."

Lexi frowned. "What do you mean?"

Her voice was hoarse, and she felt thirsty. Claude walked over and poured her a glass of water. He then helped her sit up to drink it.

After she finished, he uttered one word, "Zachary."

The color drained from Lexi's face a little. It turned out that he did know Zachary.

With a deadpan expression, she asked indifferently, "Will you tell him? Even if you tell him I'm pregnant, he won't want this child."

"I won't." Claude pulled a chair over and sat down. He said languidly, "I'm not close to him, so I won't tell him about this."

Noticing that she seemed doubtful, he reassured her. "I always keep my word."
