CHAPTER ONE

The Melancholic and suffocating air that fanned against my pale face draining whatever energy i had on me was all it took to fuel the fear and trepidation that boiled and bubbled internally, threatening to burst out of my chest.

Today was the day of my doom; the day that gathered everyone in the kingdom of Arazona. The soothing and overly calm voice of my imperial mother still rang in my ears like the music that the royal musicians where playing and it was stamped in my brain like how the dancers tapped and twirled their legs and danced to entertain us.

Everything about the ceremony made me sick, the way Father smiled generously while watching the performance from his high throne or the way Mother smiled so animatedly in her finest jewelries and royal apparels, sitting so poised on her throne a little shorter than Father's. The way everyone pretended that this was a very joyous event and not my beloved parents practically leading me to the slaughter house by making a marriage alliance with Monsters and I was the bride!. The way the joyous music was played at a high tempo and the people danced. It was a mockery and ironical joke at my expense!

It's the way I had kept awake at night trying to put a face to the 50 year old monster to whom I had been bethrothed to that hurt my chest the most. I had series of nightmares since the revelation of my shotgun marriage with the Alpha of the wolf park in our region.

"Announcing the arrival of the groom,Alpha of the Vermillion Park City!" The Steward's Voice shrilly rang out in a quavy manner.

Abrupt silence.

The music was brought to a quick stop, faster than I could flip my eyes back and forth, the dancers hurriedly dispersed into the crowd by the side of the hall.

A gush of energy and power pushed into the hall from its tall and wide hallgates. The kind of power that made us weak in the knee, made our heads forcefully now in submission and fear and made our hearts thump so loudly.

Loud footsteps echoed throughout the large hall admist the thick silence, it was so thick that you could touch it and yet those few footsteps thundered against the poor royal marble floors.

My insides where knotted in fear and fine beads of perspiration filled my back and forehead. The tight mistake for a royal wedding gown was so suffocating and the tiara which I had on seemed heavy today.

I must've been deep into my thoughts when I heard a deep and husky voice whisper;

"Mate?"

I sharply rose my head. I wasn't mistaken I heard the voice in my head and when I looked up, I met the most enthralling eyes I have ever seen.

"Mate!" I heard the word again in my head,this time it sounded more like an affirmation than a question. That moment I felt pain throbbing my chest, it was as if something big was tearing through the inner layer of my skin, threatening to burst out under his watchful gaze.

I looked away immediately and bowed my head.

I thought I heard a whimper escape his lips but then ,who was this strange man who could talk in my head,what was he doing to me and why did he have so much effect on me?

Was it just another power which the Werewolves possessed? I didn't know.
