I stood there deep in thought. Replaying the last moment I saw Rain. Her eyes were so hurt. I hated myself for causing her pain, but I couldn't claim her yet. Nate had stayed back in the hospital to keep us informed. I knew that if he was calling something must have changed. "Hello," I answered. "He's awake and asking for you. You need to get here." Nate responded. His tone was very serious which worried me more than anything. "Yeah, I'm on my way" I didn't want to leave the cure and I think Star could sense that. "You go. Don't worry about this. I'll keep working on it while you're gone." She told me. I took her word and ran out of the lab. I ran as quickly as I could toward the hospital. I desperately wanted to see Charles, to talk with him. I needed him to be okay, but I knew he wasn't. I ran through the large doors and ran into Nate. He led me to Charles' room. "He's awake and talking. He isn't in pain currently, but they have been pumping him with pain killers so he's a little loopy. Rain, brace yourself, he doesn't look good." Nate told me. Nate looked at me confused as he came toward me. I didn't have time to stop and explain. "Watch him, call me if it spreads to his face. I think I have the cure figured out." I called to him as I ran down the hall. I ran as quickly as I could. I shifted, letting Heli get us to the lab faster. I ran into the building still full wolf. I shifted outside of the lab opening the door in all my nakedness. I grabbed a lab coat that was hanging by the door. I ran toward Star who had gotten everything ready and together. The cure was there just waiting for that missing ingredient. "Star, I know what it is." I yelled at her as I tried to catch my breath. " It's the flower." I pointed to the ring I had made out of the flower she gave me. She looked at me a bit confused. "Trust me. It's the flower. How do I make it?" She still seemed confused, but she believed me as she taught me how to do it. I called forward one and Star liquified it and added it to the cure. The cure changed from a dark purpl

Charles' P.O.V. I woke up in the hospital bed after a terrible night of sleep. It was impossible to sleep knowing Rain was in a jail cell.I let my guard down and got myself bit by a damn vampire lord. It's because I couldn't take care of him, that she had to. I feel like such a weakling. How could I let this happen? Not only did I let her get kidnapped, but I botched the rescue. She not only ended up saving herself, she saved me too. She finished my cure and saved me with it. Honestly without her that cure probably would have never been finished. I would never have known that I was missing that small flower. It made sense when I thought about it now, but I never would have thought of it myself. She is the most amazing person. She is powerful and extremely intelligent. She's strong physically and mentally. Her lineage is insane on it's own, but to be mixed in with her personality and intelligence; it made her that much more amazing. Rain's P.O.V. They rushed my criminal court hearing so that I could go to the council trial sooner. The lawyer Nate got for me was great! He had so much evidence and many statements from police reports and past cases proving Stefan had kidnapped others before. He showed proof of Charle' injuries and how they were sustained by Stefan. He told them I was only defending myself and my mate. He had to explain the importance of a mate to the judge as he was human. The judge looked over everything and since the people agreed, it was ruled as self defense. I was let go that afternoon into the custody of the council. I went from one jail cell to another. I at least got to eat something before the council took me. I thanked my lawyer and asked him to thank Nate for me. I hadn't heard from him since they took me in last night. Nate was right. The criminal proceeding went smoothly as it was just self defense. Now came the hard part, the scary part. I needed to prove my actions were just, and

We left the dungeon like cells and traveled up a corridor. The halls are made of marble and have red carvings throughout. The carvings ranged from past council members, to past scenes of wars, to the current council members. The originals of each species were painted on the columns. The whole place was full of history. If I wasn't heading to possible death, I would find this place more alluring. It really was beautiful. We came to two large dark wood doors. Two guards posted outside of them opened them for us as we entered slowly. The room was large with a tall semicircle desk at the top. There was a small table at the center for Nate and I to sit at. It was made to make the person at the table feel intimidated, having the council look down at them from above. Nate gave my hand a squeeze as we got to the table.
