Ch. 71

We all ran outside, making sure we weren't spotted. Eryn opened the tree for us to step through. I still can't seem to get used to the smell. I decided to breathe through my mouth in the hopes it would help lessen the stench.

Eryn pulled his bow from his back and equipped it with an arrow. He stood tall as the end of the tunnel came to view. He shot his arrow out before we burst through to the ugliest sight I had ever seen.

Bodies laid throughout the field. Some were torn down the middle, others sliced right in half. There were body parts everywhere. Not a single dead person seemed to be in one piece. The grass didn't have a single spot of green left, all crimson red with blood. 3 ancient ones stood in the center of the field in a circle. Their arms swinging out towards the wolves that were attacking them.

I looked around the ground, trying to see if Charles laid amongst the carnage. I knew he wouldn't be, I would have felt it, but I had to be sure. All those dead open eyes I looke
