Evie's POV

When Alpha Damon came to the library earlier on, I had only pretended to be deeply engrossed in the book I was reading. Nope, I wasn't really anything even though I was a true lover of books, and he seemed to have a whole lot of them in the place.

How could I be able to read anything my mind was not settled?

The man that was the incarnate of the devil himself was suddenly acting like the saint on high. What was I even saying? Not a saint. The man was acting like the deputy assistant of Jesus, who came to the world to die for the sins of all men. It was unsettling to see him acting that way. And I would prefer it a million times if the man would just act like the devil he was.

I was looking for ways to escape from the house without alerting either the man or any of the maids and guards around the house. I would have succeeded -I almost succeeded- but the man cut that short.
