Evie's POV

"Has any of you seen Evie around today?"

I looked at Grace from where I hid behind the sofa to indicate for her to say no. She looked at me, then at the Alpha who asked her the question. By the time her gaze would settle back on mine, I could see that she was scared of lying to Alpha Damon about my whereabouts.

"Please," I mouthed to her. She turned away from me and bowed her head to the Alpha.

"No, Alpha." She lied smoothly.

I heard the man sigh. For some reason, I felt that he knew I was hiding away from him.

That had been the routine ever since a week ago when the incident of the marking or no marking had occurred. I hide away each time I heard the man's footsteps or voice, then he proceeded with looking for me until he let go and did other things on his agenda.

"Fine. But if you see her, can you let her know that running away is not going to cut it? I need to talk to her about what to do." He told Grace.
