Chapter one

SEBASTIAN'S POV.

I stick my fangs into his throat and suck the life out of him. I've had enough of their lies, they either tell me where she is or I kill as many of them that cross my path. I stretched my arms to grab another guard and suck the life out of him, that's when they realized that I wasn't just bluffing and started to speak.

"My prince, the princess is no longer with us". One of the chiefs said and the others nodded in affirmation.

"What exactly do you mean by that?". I shouted and he started to fidget.

"Speak before I behead your entire family". The anger in my voice made him stutter.

"Th-the-the-the- princess left the palace for the human world, we had nothing to do with it, sh-she-she left on her own".

"What!!, the princess did what?"

"We searched the entire kingdom and we didn't find her so we began to check the log of every porthole within the kingdom but they were no traces of entry nor departure"

"And how exactly did you arrive at the conclusion that the princess is in the human world?"

"During our search we found the guardians of the porthole of the human world lying unconsciously on the floor with messed up memories so we gave them recovery potions and..."

"And what?!"

"they remembered that the princess was at the porthole last night. That was all they remembered, their memory was entirely erased, they didn't even remember who they were. It was like someone was trying not leave any trace".

My heart sank, could Sarah really have left this world. It's all my fault, I should have payed more attention to her, I was so busy trying to become a good king that I neglected my only family. She was probably hurt but why leave for the human world though. We've never heard of anything good about that world since when we were kids and not one person that left ever wanted to return. The reason is unknown but many believe that they were bewitched by strange forces. What do I do now?

"Get out! I say through gritted teeth." They were all staring at each other in confusion, I was disgusted by the sight.

"I said get out!!" I shouted and they scurried out of the palace at once, some of them almost tripping on each other. I have to find a solution and I have to find one fast. If anything happens to Sarah, I couldn't live with myself. The throne is going to have to wait. I went into Sarah's chambers, she couldn't just have left, there has to be a reason. I searched the entire room but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I don't even know any of her friends, I'm such a terrible brother. I made my way out of her chambers and headed to the royal psychic. She was one of mom's childhood friends, a witch. Mom found her in the woods went she went hunting with her father as a kid, she had ran away from home due to reasons unknown and they took her home. She's been friends with my mom ever since and when my mom became queen she made room for her in the palace and made her the royal psychic due to her abilities to see what others don't. The position never even existed before, mom went through a lot trying to create it.

Aunt Melanie has always been very kind to us since we were kids, she was our favourite person. She was always there when mother and father were bombarded with royal duties.Aunt Melanie has a daughter that was around our age whom we never really got along with no matter how hard we tried, it was like if we took one step closer she took ten steps backwards so we gave up on trying to become her friend but we were still nice to her whenever we got the chance. Melanie became very distant after mom's passing, I don't know why but she can't possibly hate us now. She's probably worried about Sarah as much as I am.

SARAH'S POV

I woke up in a dark dirty alley filled with old hungry haggard looking men, they were wearing rags and some of them lay on the bare floor unconcerned about the state of the ground. As I continued to stare in confusion, unaware of where I am or who I am, the old men's attention were drawn towards me, they looked at me like I was an alien then one of them managed to blurt out.

"Are you okay? you've been sleeping for days. We thought you was dead." I stared at him in even more confusion and blinked my eyes rapidly trying to grasp what he just said when my head start to hurt, the pain started small and it advanced and before I knew it all I could see was black.

I was awake again, only this time my head doesn't hurt that much anymore and I remember who I am but I'm not in the same place I was before I blacked out. What is this place? There's blood everywhere, the smell is driving me crazy, I have to leave before I kill someone. I tried to stand up but my legs felt like jelly. I regained my balance and tried to find my way out of this strange place before I turn full vamp. As I went farther away the smell of blood reduced and my urges lessened. I didn't know where I was going I just wanted to get far away from the blood. I am hungry but I don't want to feed on humans. After walking aimlessly for a few minutes when I could no longer smell blood I settled down on the floor to try to remember everything and to figure out what to do next. I sat on the floor and lay my back on the wall and tried to access my body, I start with my arms because for some reason they sting. When I stare at my arm it was like someone stabbed me with a thousand needles. What exactly did they do to me here? I check my legs to see if they were more punctured holes but they were none. I'm barefoot, I'm wearing a ridiculous gown with no underwear and my braids were loose none of which I noticed when I started to run away from all the blood around every corner of this place. I pick myself up and continue my search for an exit from this nightmare. As I staggered down the blindingly bright halls her voice began to echo in my head, the events of that night came like a flood.

Someone had knocked on the window of my room, I checked to see who it was at such dark hour. I opened the window and saw someone wearing a cloak and holding a scarf to her face she's doing everything possible not to be seen. I could tell it was a she by her voice but her voice sounded oddly familiar.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"It's me, Rhea"

"Rhea?" I was shocked. What was aunt Melanie's daughter doing knocking at my window at dark?

"What is it Rhea? Do you need something?"

"Can I at least come in first."

"Yeah sure, why did you go through the back? Did you run away from home?" I asked jokingly trying to be friendly but I didn't think Rhea found that either funny or friendly. She kept a straight face.

"Well sort of, I have to tell you something."

I finally found an exit and now that I'm out of this strange place, I realized that it was just one of the many strange places in this world. It just occurred to me that I don't have anywhere to go. People stared at me as they walked by like I was the only weird one on the streets, "y'all look weird too!!" I yelled in my mind. My hunger worsened but I kept myself in order. I need to fix myself somewhere to lay first before thinking of what to eat and getting extra clothes, I'm about to freeze to death wearing these loose clothes. I kept walking until I reached an alley that looked like the one I woke up in the first time only this one's cleaner. I wonder who those people are and how I got to that strange place. I shrugged, they're probably homeless too. I walked in and looked around but there was nothing to lay on. I wonder where they got those clothes, I could really use a change of clothes right now. I sat down on a clean spot and hugged my knees, I hope I don't freeze to death.
