Chapter two

SEBASTIAN'S POV.

I put on my royal robes and head out to meet aunt Melanie. My royal robes signify authority, if aunt Melanie didn't like us anymore as her nephew and niece she'd still have to obey me as the soon to be king, I hate that I have to do this but I can't take any chances, even if it means crossing aunt Melanie, I have to find Sarah.

I arrived at her chambers and knocked on the door, she came out wearing a wry smile on her face. Is she not aware that Sarah is missing or is she un bothered by it I couldn't tell by the look on her face I'll have to ask to find out.

 "Aunt Melanie, Sarah's missing."

"What do you mean Sarah's missing? have you checked the garden she's probably there waiting for her flowers to grow again like she did last time when you declared her missing."

"Sarah's been missing for days, I've searched the entire kingdom she's nowhere to be found." The look on her face changed from nonchalant to worrisome.

"Why are you just telling me about this now?!, you didn't think to tell me when it happened?"

"I'm sorry aunt Melanie, I wanted to be sure about it before alarming you and I assumed you knew when the guards started to search the whole kingdom."

"There was a search party!" her eyes widened and the look on her face was no longer just worrisome it was now a mix of slightly annoyed and worried. I felt bad for having doubting her and wearing my royal robe all the way here. She started mixing potions and casting spells, anyone could tell that she was desperate. After what seemed like quite a while she stopped and sighed very loudly, she was now looking very disappointed.

"Sarah's on earth." she said and sat down on the wooden chair next to me. I sighed and rested my elbows on my thighs while holding my head in both my hands. I guess I'm doing this, I'm going to earth.

"What do we do now?" aunt Melanie asked.

"I'll have to go find her, I can't leave my sister roaming in a dangerous world where she knows no one."

"What about the coronation then?"

"It'll have to wait, they can't hold a coronation without a king. I'm going to assemble the whole kingdom and let them in on the news."

"That sounds okay but do you think Sarah's doing okay, she's never been out of the palace before."

"She might be lost but she's still a princess, she'll be fine."

I don't mean what I just said, I'm panicking. I just didn't want aunt Melanie to worry. Sarah might me be a princess but I doubt she has the courage to fight. I really hope she puts those lessons she learnt from mom, dad and workers at the Palace to good use. I hope nothing goes wrong till I get there. I wonder if she's eaten or how she's doing, she probably doesn't have anyone to go to or where to sleep. Sarah can hold her human form for long and was always the best at resisting urges, at least that's one thing to be relieved about. I need to assemble the people as soon as possible I don't know how much longer Sarah can survive out there.

I left aunt Melanie's chambers and head back to the palace, I have a lot of work to do if I'm going to put the coronation on hold. The kingdom has never been left without a king before, never was it written in history that the people were without a leader, I'm going to have to put in a lot of effort if I'm going to alter history.

   SARAH'S POV

I sat there in the cold dark alley for quite a while and not even a rat passed by, I was starting to get scared when I heard faint laughter, more like a chuckle from afar. The sound became louder and clearer. It was no longer just the sound of laughter, I could now hear footsteps approaching. The closer they came the clearer their voices, they sound like nice people, I should probably ask them for help. What will I say though, I can't possibly tell them that I'm a vampire princess who came here through a porthole and woke up, then blacked out, then woke up again in a place where I was stabbed with needles and driven away by the smell of blood and somehow ended up here with no one to go to and no place to call home. He'll probably freak out.

"hey little girl, what are you doing out here in the cold? where are your parents?"  The man in a brown coat asked me with so much care. I can't tell if he's actually concerned or just nosy and who's he calling kid?! I'm everything but a child. I don't know how old he is but I know I'm old enough to be his great grandmother. Instead of finding a suitable answer to his question, I just stare at his face like a lost innocent child.

"she's probably lost or she ran away from the hospital. Teenagers never learn." The second man said and rolled his eyes, he's very un interested in who I am or why I am here. How can he be so mean? I should probably feed on him when no one's looking.

"Get up, let's get you home" The man in the coat said as he helped me up.

"You must be cold" I am cold so I nod my head in affirmation, that's the first question they've asked that I actually have an answer to. He removed his coat and gave me to wear, it didn't automatically warm me up but it helped.

"Where are we taking her?"

"Where do you think?"

"The cops?"

"Yeah but don't you think we should at least give her food to eat first and can't you tell that she's been outside for hours, in that." He said pointing at my dress, no need to point fingers I'm not proud of it either.

"listen, I get that you're nice and you wanna help but we don't even know who she is, we could get in trouble for taking her with. She was obviously not discharged from the hospital properly, what if she dies in our hands? we don't even know weather what she has is contagious. There are over a million and one risks of taking a stranger to your home." He does have a point, I'm a blood sucking creature.

"Yeah I know that but would you rather we leave her here? wha.."

"Yes yes, I would rather we leave her here. You helped, you gave her a coat.  That's enough kindness for one year if you ask me."

"Why are you so mean? What if it was your sister? Would you leave her here?"

"I don't have a sister so I don't know what you're talking about. I can't relate to it"

"Okay, what if it was me but like you know, a girl."

"I'd be home by now, I do not care about your ugly ass." He said and dramatically crossed his arms. The duo are quite entertaining, watching them makes my hunger bearable.

"I know you don't mean what you said. I know you love me and even a blind person could tell that I'm good looking. Just please let us take her home, we'll take her to the cops very early tomorrow morning." He said then pout his lips like a child probably in an attempt to look cute.

"Don't you think this is inappropriate though, we're both guys."

"She can sleep in the guest room."

"Just incase anything happens, let's be clear it's all your fault and I had absolutely nothing to do with it."

"Absolutely. hey kid, come on. Let's go get you something to eat." He said and smiled at me. His smile made me feel kinda warm or is it the coat that made me feel warm I can't tell which and I really don't care. The only thing weighing in my mind now is the kind of food he's going to offer. I could eat anything and anyone right now.

" It's not very far from here, we're almost there it's just right around that corner." And in a few minutes we were in front of a what I would call a decent house, it can't be compared to the castle I lived in but I guess I'm not a princess in this world. He stood at the front of the door for a few seconds before opening it probably battling with the lock, I'm not sure.

He attempted to say something but stopped.

"What's your name?" he asked puzzled. I guess he suddenly realized that he doesn't know my name that's why he didn't say what he wanted to say.

"It's Sarah" I say almost in a whisper.

"Sorry?"

"Sarah" I repeated a little more audibly this time.

"Ok Sarah, welcome to our home. Over there is the guest room which is where you'll be staying, there's a bathroom in there so you can freshen up. I'll fix you something to eat when you're done and oh, you're going to need a change of clothes right?"  Yes please, I never want to wear this dress again. I move my head up and down in response to his question.

"Ok, I'll get you some of my clothes, you'll have to make do with those for now." anything but this. I nod my response again.

"I'll bring the clothes to your room, you can go in." I hand him his coat and muttered a thank you before entering the guest room and closing the door behind me.
