Juliet
I gaze around the sterile room as I swing my legs back and forth on the examination table. Over the last four hours, I’ve been prodded, poked, and questioned about everything. At this point, I just want to go home, but my dad’s people won't let me. I freaking hate this place so much.
“Your father says that you’re not getting much sleep and that you’re taking up wandering around the house at night. Why do you think that is, Juliet?” Dr. Harold Parker asks as he runs a wand across my chest.
All I can think, though, is that I’m fucked. Obviously, my dad has been keeping a closer eye on me than I assumed. The fact that he knows I’ve been up to is alarming.
Rowan “We found another one,” Tristan says as he steps into my apartment. Frowning with disbelief, I finish slipping on the t-shirt that I was going to wear before I heard the knock on the door. “Was it killed with the same ammo?” Tristan hands me a file with pictures and takes a seat on one of the kitchen stools. “Yeah, but this one has been dead a little longer than the one you found. Some guy was hunting deer or some shit and discovered it deep in the woods. Thankfully, the official that responded to his report was a supernatural being, so it was run through the Council instead of the human police. The pathologis
Jules “Who was that boy?” My father asks as he strides purposely behind me. I shake my head, confused by his behavior. “I already told you. His name is Rowan─.” “I know his name!” He hisses angrily. “What I’m asking you is if you’re screwing him?” I’m taken aback. My father may have been a cold man, but I’ve never heard him be so cruel. “Are you serious right now?”
Rowan Something is wrong with Jules, and if it’s what I suspect, I’m going to kill my brother and his mate. It’s no coincidence that Jules is getting headaches after Amara and Kell agreed to the mind wipe. Something went wrong, and Jules is now suffering because of it. I wanted to tell her the truth so badly, but I couldn’t find the words. It doesn’t help that she admitted to getting headaches. Fuck! My swollen lips tingle as I gaze up into the ceiling. God, that kiss was amazing, and touching her was beyond anything I imagined it would be. She was so responsive and sweet that stopping was almost impossible. To be honest, the only reason I stopped was that I could feel myself turning. My fangs descended, and my eyes were glowing.&nbs
Chapter 11: TellJules Morning arrives quickly, with me feeling the effects of my late night. I couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss. It felt so good to be in his arms. A knock on the door startles me from my sleep, almost making me fall out of Rowan’s bed. I glare at the door as I rub my tired eyes and push my hair back. I look at the couch, but Rowan’s not there. Yet, I can hear the sound of running water. He must be taking a shower. Not knowing what else to do, I open the door. To my horror, there’s a gorgeous woman standing on the other side of the door. She’s wearing a tight crop top and very short cuto
Chapter 12: DiscoveriesRowan “This better be good, Tristan. I have something important to do.” Tristan crooks a brow at my irritated tone. “I’m sorry for interrupting you, your highness, but I thought you might be interested in what we discovered.” Rubbing my bare neck, I take a deep breath and face my brother. Is it weird that it’s natural to consider him my brother now? “Okay, fine. Tell me what you found.” Tristan gestures for me to follow him through the Halo’s basement. “Okay, so two things.” He says as soon as we step into a sterilized medical examination lab. The cr
Chapter 13: Painful to KnowJules Dr. Parker meets me at the front door as soon as I arrive at the research clinic, which I will admit is a bit odd. I mean, what doctor meets their patient at the front door? I keep my cool as he leads me to the elevators. “Ms. Romanis, I know that your father wanted us to run a sleep test for you. We have prepared a room for you. Please, follow me.” I follow quietly behind the doctor, scanning each door and anything else that I can spot in hopes of finding answers. My phone vibrates in my pocket, but I ignore it. I get the feeling that he might have a problem with me carrying a cell phon
Chapter 14: Now I knowRowan I look down at Jules’ still form as thoughts run through my mind. I didn’t know what to do after she passed out, so I brought her back to my place. She looks so peaceful lying in the middle of my bed. Thankfully, I was able to stop the bleeding. But not before I got a taste of her blood. Now, I’m one-hundred percent sure that Jules is my mate. After tasting the sweet ambrosia that runs through her veins, there’s no doubt that she’s mine. Other than the fact that it looks like someone shot her with some kind of poisonous bullet, I also noticed that the knife she produced is the same one I found near one of the dead creatures. I stopped the blood using the coagulant in my saliva, which would have probably grossed her out if she had been conscious. Tha
Jules My first mistake is that I rush into my house without giving a thought to who might be sneaking around. I’m close to my room when my father’s imposing shadow stops in front of me. His features are set in a scowl, and his hands are balled into fists. “I heard they weren’t able to run the sleep test on you.” I swallow hard. “Yeah, Dr. Caldwell said that there was some kind of emergency, and they couldn’t do it.” His eyes narrow into sits, and his lips pucker. “Is that so?” I nod my head. “Yeah,”&nb
