Chapter 44

Avery happily came back with some fried chicken, and began to share them with Ember. He then turned to Lugh with a smile. “Uncle Lugh, I want to eat some carbohydrates. I think there’s someone selling potato wedges over there!”

How could Caleb allow the godfather to outshine the biological father when he was around? He immediately stood up and said, “I’ll get some for you.”

Lugh didn’t want to be left behind. He pinched Avery’s nose, and said, “I’ll go get some for you. Stay here and protect your mommy!”

And so, buying the carbohydrates turned from Lugh’s task to Lugh and Caleb’s task. Two tall and handsome men walking side by side was very attractive.

Avery was still a child. While he was eating, his eyes began to shine with interest when he saw a snack booth with a spinner wheel not far away. “Mommy, look! Don’t they look delicious?”

As his mother, of course Ember knew very clearly what he was thinking. She gave his head a light knock. “Come on, I’ll buy some for you.”
