Chapter 25

I saw a small glimmer of light off to my left and began to follow it. It was a soft, orange glow as if there were a fire off in the distance. As I got closer to the growing orange glow, the screams got louder. My heart pounded as I anticipated finding David and bringing him back out of the cave, if I could find my way out of the cave. I felt the heat coming from the orange glow and I knew it wasn’t much farther. I inched up as close to the entrance of the room as I could. There were a couple of changelings in the room so I pressed myself up closer against the limestone cave wall to avoid detection. I inched along the wall and peaked around the corner to find David chained to the wall in barbed wire. He was doubled over in pain as the changelings whipped him and kicked him over and over again while laughing. His face was so cut up and swollen, the spit running down his chin as he cried for them to stop. They just looked at him and laughed kicking harder this time.
