Chapter LXIV

The sound of horses retaliating against men, along with squeaking and grinding gears woke Karilaya to her senses. Jolting she almost screamed but stopped when she felt the ache in her throat.

Knees, body, and arms bent, bleeding, and was gasping for air, Karilaya shakily tried to stretch her arms but was met with the cold, steel bars around her. The iron mixed with the grime was causing the air to be putrid, making her whole chest clench that she was almost unable to inhale fully. Her demise was added as she felt the cold, pinching steel wrapped around her arms and neck.

This was the situation that greeted her when she opened her eyes and yet she still had the strength to look around to see if Max was in sight.
