Chapter 30: Unveiling Shadows

We kept running until our lungs burned and the forest became a blur of shadows and moonlight. The air was filled with the sounds of the night, but all I could hear was the pounding of my heart. Nathanial stayed close, his presence a constant reminder of our shared mission.

Finally, we reached a small clearing. I leaned against a tree, gasping for breath, and tried to steady my racing thoughts. We were safe for the moment, but Gabriel was relentless, and I knew it was only a matter of time before he found us again.

Nathanial stood guard, his eyes scanning the darkness. "We need a plan, Emily. We can’t keep running forever."

I nodded, clutching the journal tightly. "We need to decipher the prophecy and find a way to stop Gabriel. My mother believed I was the chosen one, but I still don’t understand what that means."
