Immediately Valerie said those words, I turned back to look at Nessa, I could tell she was hurt. Her once happy facial expression turned sore and all eyes were on me.

“What? Pregnant? How?” I asked in confusion, staring at her from head to toe.

“You’re asking me how? Weren’t we fucking?” She tried stopping her tears by rubbing her hands over her eyes.

At those words, Nessa stood up abruptly, leaving the room in haste. I held back a curse, wanting to follow her but I also wanted to grab a hold of the situation. Thankfully, her best friend went after her. At least she would be okay.

My gaze strayed to Valerie’s stomach. It wasn’t showing any sign that she was pregnant. “This isn’t the time or place to do this.” I dragged her gently by the arm and walked towards my office.

My mum and sisters also had confused expressions on their faces, but they didn’t utter a word and went back to their food as I dragged Valerie out.
