Chapter Four

Nessa Sims

~•~

I pushed his hand and got away from his grip.

“Are you out of your mind?” I blurted. “What is wrong with you?” At that point, I didn’t care if he was Vito or not. He was clearly harassing me.

His men had already started beating the innocent man I was dancing with. I was confused because they didn’t have any reason to create a scene because of me.

“Who are you speaking to this way?” He barked at me.

“I thought you only wanted me to work for you? How does my personal life concern you? And how did you even find me? Are you watching me?” I asked him a ton of questions.

“Stop interrogating me and come with me.” He dragged me by the hand and walked towards the door.

The whole place was already chaotic and everyone stopped to watch because they all feared him and didn’t have the guts to keep on partying with him in the building.

“Leave my friend alone.” Ellie stepped in and tried to loosen me from his grip.

“Let go, this is none of your business.” He pushed her away from me.

Was he okay? It was her business too. With strength I never knew I possessed, I ripped my hand away. He could treat me however he wanted but Ellie was off-limits.

“Didn’t you do your complete homework on me? That’s my best friend you’re talking to.” I scowled at him.

I’m pretty sure he knew who she was but he just felt he could do anything he wanted because of his power and money.

He rubbed his forehead as he stared down at me, his breathing labored for reasons unknown to me. He sighed. “Let’s go to the car and talk.” His voice was calm this time like he was pleading with me.

Ellie held me tight but I slowly removed my arm from her grip. “I’ll be back.” I told her, knowing he was only going to create another scene if I didn’t go with him. She was reluctant but she allowed me to.

We got the car and as usual, there were three black cars. We got into the middle one.

“Start explaining.” I didn’t give him the chance to speak first.

“Explaining what?”

“Why did you come here and do what you did?”

“You work for me, right? I came to get you.”

Came to get me? This man was out of his mind. Was that how he treated all the people who worked for him?

“Get me to where?” Surprised, I started laughing because I thought it was a joke.

“What’s amusing you?” He sounded serious this time. “You didn’t want to risk your identity right? So you’ll move in with me.”

He was definitely out of his mind if he thought I would just drop whatever was going on in my life and move in with him. I didn’t even know anything about him aside from the fact that he was a rich mafia boss.

“You must be joking. You think I would just drop everything and listen to whatever you say?”

“Yes, you would. I know your secret.”

I clenched my teeth, holding back my words as I gave him the dirtiest scowl I could muster. I had forgotten about that for a second. His lips curved up in a small smile when he saw that he had won.

“So what happens to my family and my friend, I just have to leave them?”

“You can choose to bring your son if you wish.” He signaled his driver to start the car. He blew his horn to alert the car in front to start moving.

“Why are you driving? I’m still in the car.”

“Does it look like I’m blind?” He moved closer to me. “I said I came to pick you up and I’m taking you home right now.”

“Home?”

“Did I stutter? We’ll go pick up your son later.”

“You didn’t even let me say goodbye to my friend, she’ll be worried sick.”

“You can text her later.”

Was he being serious? I was literally being kidnapped.

He didn’t care about my opinion. We just kept on moving until we got to a gate which automatically opened as the cars got close to it.

We came down from the car and I was greeted with a modern mansion with all glass buildings and a perfectly manicured lawn. It’s surrounded by palm trees and a beautiful fountain in the center. It exuded wealth, power, and a hint of danger just like the man beside me.

He punched in a password and the doors swung open. If I thought the exterior of the house was good, the interior was to die for. It looked like a royal mansion with different famous paintings in the open space. The stairs leading upstairs were made of marble and the luxurious furniture in the other part of the sitting room complemented the white painting of the house.

“Take her to her room.” Vito’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

He instructed one of his men to show me to my room and left before I could even say anything.

On our way upstairs, my gaze was focused on the beautiful mansion I had just stepped into. This job wouldn’t be that bad, I thought to myself.

“This is your room.” He pointed to a door right after we came up the first stairs. “If you need anything, just call the phone in the room.”

“Thanks.” I muttered and walked to the giant wooden door.

I opened the door, the room was as magnificent as all the other parts of the house I had seen. It had a king-sized bed and also had a nice view. I could see the beautifully curated gardens from the room.

I remembered nobody else knew I was there and quickly snapped back to reality. I brought out my phone from my purse to text Ellie but I saw lots of calls from her that I missed because my phone was on silent.

I quickly called her and she picked up after the first ring. She must have been worried sick.

“Where are you, girl?” She sounded so worried. I would be too if I were in her shoes because I promised I was going to come back and never did.

“It’s a long story. He took me to his house.”

“What do you mean?”

“He said since I wanted to be anonymous, I had to stay at his house so I would be safe.” I sighed. I knew I couldn’t win against him. If I ran away, he’d just find me again.

“Is that a good thing? So what about your life here? And Liam?”

“I’m still confused, he said I could pick up Liam later.” I collapsed into the bed, it felt like marshmallows. It was so comfortable.

“Okay girl, we will figure whatever this is later in the morning, you should get some rest now. I’m fully convinced this man is secretly in love with you.” She teased me.

“Don’t start please.” A smile crossed my face.

“Yeah right, he just wants to protect you when you didn’t ask him for protection.”

“He only needs my skills.”

“Okay babes, goodnight and stay calm.” She blew me a kiss from the phone.

“Goodnight, I love you.” I ended the call.

What would I do without Ellie? She was the most supportive person in my life. I couldn’t even imagine how I would live my life without her, so I decided I was going to tell Vito that the plan of me moving in with him couldn’t work in the morning.

I needed to freshen up so I went to the shower, then I figured I didn’t have any clothes. There were bathrobes and towels in the bathroom so I made do with that.

After I was done showering, I called with the telephone they left for me in the room and requested for clothes.

“We can’t provide that tonight, the boss says we’ll get you new clothes tomorrow.” I heard a manly voice respond to me from the other side of the line and abruptly ended the call.

So they didn’t think it through when they were kidnapping me. I slumped on the bed and didn’t know when I slept off. The next thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Vito standing in my room and staring at me. How long has he been here and what was he doing here?
